First, hope I'm posting in the right topic.I'm posting this because a couple of weeks ago some of us on here were talking about needing a new one and asking for advice.

I was at BJ's yesterday and though not at all in my plans I picked up a new Shark Rocket Ultra Light for $119.00 ($30 off). My old but trusty Oreck though it works great has lots of electrical tape on the cord where it has worn.

I had done my carpeting with my Oreck earlier in the morning. Finally got the praying mantis looking Shark (geez it's weird looking) put together and did just a small section of my living room rug. Whoa! Just that small area and there was dirt in the cup that my Oreck obviously hadn't pick up.

That's as far as I've gotten with it. Haven't tried refitting it as a handheld nor taking a good look at all the tools nor the car detail kit. Will do all that later today. One thing I know I'm NOT going to like is that it doesn't stand upright on it's own. You have to lay it down or lean it against a wall although now that I think of it might have read that if you unhook the top thingy and store it on the stem thingy closer down near the vac head it might stand on it's own. Will have to check that out.

BJ's had several different Shark models but this one looked to have all the features I could ever need at that good $119 price.

I got a new Shark, too! Mine is a corded upright. It's the newly-designed Navigator Zero-M Lift-Away. The brush roll is made to never get hair wrap! ...and that is true. I have been using it for a month and no hair gets wrapped around the roller. Not even my long hair or my golden retriever's hair either. This is a dream come true. Best vac ever.

@shaggygirlI LOVE my Shark. But, I will say if I empty the canister & go back & revacuum over the same area the canister is full of dirt, again.

I vacuum frequently & have had my vacuum for 2 years. I swear it is pulling up dirt from under the house! How can I still be so dirty? Ew.

@Dusty1 That is strange! Have you checked your basement floor to see if it's collapsing?lol  Now you're going to have me revacumming (sp) over and over again until it STOPS doing that.

@Dusty1  I'll be doing it a little later this morning. I'm to do the living room, empty the cup, then do it again. Stay tuned, will post later with the outcome.

I had that sort of thing happen to me. What I found out was that the padding under my old carpet was getting crumbly and falling apart. Then when I vacuumed, the crumbled tiny pieces of padding would get sucked through the carpet itself. That made me realize just how old my carpet really is...LOL! @Dusty1

Same thing here with  my new shark!  I'm wondering it the thing isn't pulling up bits of the rug pad from underneath!  My house CAN"T be that dirty!  Sometimes I feel a kinship to the little cleaner in Wall-E!

@SilleeMeeThat actually makes a lot of sense & my carpet is old, but looks nice.

I have a 17 year old dog & a 14 year old dog & they have a lot of accidents.

I will be replacing my carpet when they are gone, but meanwhile. I vacuum & run the carpet cleaner constantly.
