Re: Feedback on 2018 Speed Queen Washers

@ Zookeeper 4
Thanks so much for info on your new Maytag. Be sure to keep us updated. Interesting comparison with BB store models.
I have been looking at refrigerators and every store has a different brand recommendation. It seems like pot luck and I don’t like gambling with that much money. Thanks for input.

At this point, I'm not sure it really much matters since they all are so similar and all have lemons. I would get the one that appeals to your needs and wants.

Re: Feedback on 2018 Speed Queen Washers

I think zookeeper made a good choice considering what is available today.  That Maytag is the most old school agitator washer available.  It's a shame that the water level options are so limited on it but in a pinch one can make it work for them.   Maybe Maytag will listen to all of the reviews asking for more water levels and put it in a machine soon.  If I were in the market for a new machine (I'm not since I got the "older" model of Speed Queen) I would choose that Maytag.

Re: Feedback on 2018 Speed Queen Washers

I just bought a Maytag FW washer - apparently the cheaper version of the commercial GW - and I absolutely love it. I can wash small loads HE and I can wash heavy comforters, sheets, towels and pillows in a deep water wash and rinse. I like having choices. My machine is quiet and efficient. Here is a comparison of the two machines from Maytag. And I love how my clothes come out...

Reading about Maytag agitator reminds me of Kenmore/whirlpool washer I replaced 5 years ago. It’s agitator wdntbup snd down but it pulled skid from top to bottom. It did great job and was gentle on clothes. Sorry I replaced but tub rusting.

Precisely my point. Washers gave been very efficient and now they can’t perform tasks as they used to. Washing sheets should be a given. I understand going to commercial laundry for comforters and pillows. How is that saving energy when we have to do double rinses and wash less in “full” loads. I notice more wear and tear on fabrics too.

I agree - now that I have a machine that barely uses any water I have to do twice as many loads. How does that save water. !?!?

I had a HE washer for a while. I learned from the Q forum to put the cycle choice on Heavy and that will give you more water in the tub. When my HE died after a very short life, I replaced it with Speed Queen 2016. It was love at first sight. I just wish we could buy regular old Tide powder detergent!
