Do you decorate your front or back porch for the fall season?

I don't do much porch decorating for the autumn season. I might have a mum in a planter in one corner of my front porch, but that's about it. My porch isn't very big, and too many items would just be in the way. I just bought my first ever fall wreath for my front door. 😱

Here are some photos of fall porch decorating ideas from the Internet. Most of these designs have way too many objects for me.

What's on your front porch for fall?

A large porch allows for more decorations, but there's too much stuff in the corner. I like all the colors though. I'd prefer a bench with 2 rockers instead of 4 rockers.
Love the dog!

Very elegant. The wider steps allow for decorations without making the steps dangerous.

Not really loving this one. Too much orange and brown. I don't like the small pumpkins on the top of the porch roof or windows.

I'd prefer a variety of more colors. The chairs seem a bit too close to the doors. Hope nobody trips on the pumpkins.

I like the mixture of the colors in the flowers and pumpkins in this one.

The dog is the nicest accessory.  As you say, there's often too much "stuff".  It could easily become a tripping hazard in some cases.  Remove about half and it would be very nice.

Yes, I do, decorate both front and back.

Nothing elaborate but I've just ordered a new door mat and a fun Halloween pillow for a chair by the front door.

I already have the pumpkin and mum.  We rarely have visitors but we enjoy it (looks good in the Amazon delivery photos, too!).

When the weather gets chilly, I'll replace the potted geranium on the cafe table out back with either an ornamental pepper or pumpkin or mum.  We have many tall trees so the foliage alone constitutes a decoration.

I'm so psyched for fall this year.  Seemed like a long dreadful hot summer, for some reason (well, I know what it was - construction nearby has been noisy and obtrusive and finally we have moved from being the locus of activity to somewhat in the background).

Re: Fall Porches

[ Edited ]

I agree that it's a bit too much on those porches!

I plan on doing mine sometime this week.  I have three planters....one on either side of the steps and a large one right next to the front door.  I plan on getting three yellow/orange mums for the planters, some pumpkins (3?) and a small pumpkin or two to go on the table between my Adirondack chairs on the porch.

ETA:  I have to dig out one of my fall wreaths that is up in the attic of the garage to place on the front door.

The pictures are lovely but as others have stated there are too many items all around the porch.

The one thing that I always pick up on when seeing all of these porches, both front and back, decorated to the nines is how do you keep people from stealing many of the decorations?

I live in a nice middle class neighborhood and yet a few of my neighbors have had decorative items stolen off of their porches or from their yards.  I'm sure most of this thievery is done to just be malicious.

At Christmas in particular, many of the wealthier neighborhoods experience a lot of theft of their lights and very ornate Christmas figures.  These people spend a pretty significant amount of money to decorate and yet some people just destroy it.

One neighborhood where the homes range well above the average home price, the neighbors get together and hire a security firm to guard their Christmas decorations during the nighttime hours.

That is just so sad.  I remember when I was growing up all of the neighbors had gliders or swings and decorations on their front porches and never had a bit of theft.

I don't decorate my porch except for a hanging basket of fall colors flowers at each corner; my yard is my fall decor.  We just bought at least a dozen mums to add to or to replace the summer flowers that are past their prime. Still have many that are in full bloom such as orange blanket and yellow coreopsis.   Also the purple asters are really coming on.  There is lots of fall color in the yard in in pots on the stone water feature and stream.  Also have a couple pumpkin planters with mums.  And my fall wreath on the front door.

Decorating my porch would be overkill.

I do love all the pictures in the post tho.

Our porch is covered so nearly all my outdoor decorations are placed there. Right now, I have a scarecrow and some mums on it.
