@eddyandme I did not realize that.
Now I am upset for not looking. I recently donated 5 sets of sheets. They were still in their original wrapping.
I had bought 2 new mattresses that is so thick that none of the sheets I had, fit around the corners. It seemed that one corner would come off the first time your slept on it. Even when the package said they could handle a 14" thick mattress. I still had trouble. The same with the mattress cover. I had to buy two before I found one that fit.

Well, I recently switched from a queen-size to a king-size bed at which time I only purchased one setting of sheets. Brody, my German Shepherd bedmate got sick this past week. So, I tucked in the top sheet while the bottom sheet was being laundered. As planned, that worked out really well - NOT!
Since I'm very pleased with my bedding from amazon, I went on a searh.
We can buy bottom sheets only!!! I'm just posting this in case I'm not the only one who's 'late to the party'. Just search fitted sheets; and, Nirvana! there's a medley of various bottom sheets to be had!
Good Luck my fellow bottom-sheeters!
I'm a two sheet woman. Sleeping without a top sheet would be like sleeping without a pillowcase to me.
But I usually buy my sheets separately, not in sets. Of course in sets, you get top, fitted and two pillow cases.
It's a good thing you had a top sheet to use. You can tuck them in tight.
Hope your Brody is better. German Shepherds--my favorite breed.
Thanx @Lucky Charm ! Brody has a gastro problem: he's getting better now, but I must say, giving him the meds has been challenging...

QVC has a sister brand called Garnet Hill that has quite a nice selection of sheets, in sets or separates.
I have organic mattresses, so I indulge in organic sheets.
It's not about *name/price* as much as it is about quality textile/clean living.

Yes @drizzellla , I went the platform route with a 12" (the middle choice) hybrid mattress and it's quite thick! My fitted sheets fit, but there wasn't enough extra material to keep the top sheet tucked in with Brody moving around so much.

I love Garnet Hill! Have a beautiful bedspread in the master bedroom from them among other things - very good quality. Nowadays though been doing amazon: but it's good to know that we can buy sheets separately instead of in sets.

Buying sheets separately, is not a new thing at all. I've been doing that for decades now---seems the bottom sheet wear out faster, no surprise, epecially when there are kids involved.

@eddyandme - I don't see how a flat sheet would stay when using it as a fitted sheet. I'll stick with a fitted sheet too.
Hope your baby gets back to his normal self soon.

I used to help her make the bed with flat sheets. She showed me how to make square corners, sometimes called hospital corners. Flat sheets can certainly be used as the bottom sheet.
I had to laugh when I saw your post. When I was in 7th grade back in the 50's (yikes) we had a class for girls only, Home Ec, (boys had shop and made birdhouses) that included making the perfect hospital corners, do it right and you got an A. We also learned how to make tomato soup and sew a full apron apron lol. The sheet thing is only a memory now-fitted sheets for me & thank you to the folks that include labels reading top/bottom!

Thanx @San Antonio Gal . He's eating well. Have to feed him with some husk stuff in his food twice a day 12hours apart! So have to include another meal 'cause he won't waitthat long. The other two meds aren't timed like that and, of course, everything must be hidden
. Been giving Brody a mixture of rice, chef boy ardee and a protein each time - plus cookies which I 'frost' with his third med. Can't believe he can eat that much but he does and he's not fat!!! I should be solucky!
Thanks.

@eddyandme You can buy just tops or just bottoms at target too. They've been selling linens separately for many years now. I've found a few really nice brands of linens there. What I love the best at target is they have samples out for many brands so you can feel the fabrics - at least at my target. I really appreciate this.
