Re: EAST GRAND RAPIDS KITCHEN

The house is not my style but the woodwork and the hardwood floors are beautiful. The kitchen, itself, is also very nicely done. The things I would change or swap out would be the table and chairs in front of the window, the bar stool chairs, that ugly chair and lamp on the one end and also the curved backsplash.

This is one beautiful kitchen!  Love the colors right down to the runner.  So warm and inviting. Also like the idea of a comfortable chair in the kitchen.

That is a huge space with what seems like ultra-high ceilings to me.

Yet, I find the counter space and surfaces to be quite small for that room.

If the tall cabinet to the right of the stove is the refrigerator, I don't understand why you have a long reach to get to the island countertop, as it clearly isn't directly across from the cabinet.  Likewise,  I assume the metal drawer to the right of the tall cabinet is a freezer or chiller drawer and removing items from it look like they are closer to the banquette table than the countertop.

I believe there is an entrance to another room to the left of the stove, near the ugly chair and likely this is some huge pantry or even a prep room or secondary kitchen with sinks and perhaps a full sized refrigerator and freezer.

It also bugs me that there appears to be a large fireplace and mantle opposite the island, yet there is no seating or other relationship of the fireplace to the dining or sitting area.    Just seems odd to me.

Agreed, @elated ,  and others who have suggested various possibillities, there are some potential camoflaging built-in candidates for the fridge, and you're right, the kitchen has an adjacent butler's pantry or scullery which could be a repository for several appliances....

It is beautiful. I never have rugs in the kitchen, but that's just my preference.

Re: EAST GRAND RAPIDS KITCHEN

What a lovely kitchen!  The breakfast nook is my favorite area, it looks comfortable  and peaceful.  The windows are all beautiful and  I love the way the wood frames each one.  I also like the  beautiful  area rug which adds warmth.  I do not spend much time in the kitchen but in this one I might linger !!!
