@NickNack

Your mantel looks lovely.  As long as you're happy with the results that's what matters.

But seeing as you asked, I'd go with the seagrass blinds.

From pics you've posted in the past, I always thought your home was full of warmth, clean & well designed.

I really like that roman shade.  I think it will be easier to keep clean than the seagrass.  I think anything you try to use to dust the seagrass would get caught in it.

In the cloth/linen shade, you can dust it easier.  I had one from Ikea and I could put it in the washing machine and iron it.

@NickNack  I don't agree that you need more color.  When you have different textures and finishes they provide the variety without color.

It may not show up well in photos but monotones can be stunning.  I had a living room with a beige carpet, soft mocha toned window treatents, light brown swivel chairs with a faint diamond stitch in the fabric, an ivory/white very simple sofa with texture, and medium toned to light woods in it and it was stunning.

The house had a light beige brick and the room had a big fireplace with side book cases.  I think it was my favorite room ever!

I look around me and I realize I have basically duplicated that much here, only with white bookcases and shutters, a soft french blue rug and chair in the same color and leather chairs! Woman Surprised Oh well.  I still love it!

Thank you @Sooner .  Both your previous and current living rooms sound beautiful.  I like blue a lot, too.  I can't have it in my living room because it doesn't go with some other things, but I do have it in my bedroom.

@VaBelle35   You're exactly right about dusting the seagrass.  I hadn't thought about that.  I've decided on the linen shades anyway.  I kept thinking about it, and I just prefer that look for my bedroom.

I love your pictures, @NickNack --  serene and stylish.  How exciting to be doing some redecorating.

I'm so struck by your eye for shape and form with your pottery--  each choice is a sleek, clean-lined winner, and your color palette very sophisticated.  Also love that stunning texture on the third one.  Good job!  It must feel very refreshing in the space you're creating.

@NickNack

Your mantel looks just beautiful and your fireplace is lovely. I am also a lover of neutrals.  To me they create a warm, cozy and relaxing atmosphere.  Enjoy your 'new' room!

I like that black jug!  It's so hard to see the p..... willows, can you set it on the floor next to the hearth?  They'd show so much better.  And hide an outlet or cable plug, too.

Maybe a low basket on the other side for storing pet toys, but they'd still have access.

That stone is so pretty on your fireplace.

Can the cat reach the mantle because of the chair flanking the fireplace?  Mine won't jump higher than a chair seat (and I'm thankful for that!).

My favorite is that vase you have on backorder.
