Does anyone else hate fitted sheets?

[ Edited ]

I have been disappointed by fitted sheets NUMEROUS times... in fact, pretty much every set I've ever had.  It seems they either shrink and I have to fight to get them on the bed, or they are saggy, baggy.

I have two twin XL beds in my guest room. I'm thinking of getting good quality, full (edited) size flat sheets for top and bottom. This will leave plenty of room to tuck them in properly.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thank you.

@house_cat   Fitted sheets may be a pain but not having them is even worse.

I get what you are saying.   My fitted sheets are usually a saggy wrinkly mess every morning.  I just pull and tuck as best I can. I live with it.

I don't know where you could get so many flat sheets.  Aren't they sold only in sets now?

I have five queen beds and have never had a problem with fitted sheets.  They stay on and lay flat.

When you buy sheets, they usually tell you on the package or description the thickness of the mattress they will fit.

When I grew up, we did not have fitted sheets.  We used two flat sheets.  I learned how to make a square corners on the bottom sheet so that it would stay on the bed. We had double beds and used two double size flat sheets.

I can't imagine using a flat queen sheet on a single XL mattress.  It would be way too big and sloppy.

When you buy sheets, measure the thickness of your mattress first and buy the correct size. Some sheets will fit a 16 inch mattress...if yours is only 10" thick, it will be baggy.

You could add a topper to make the sheet fit better if it is too big or baggy.

@PinkyPetunia

I'm shopping for them online tonight and they are not readily available.  The ones I see are also rather expensive. I'm willing to spend the money if I was certain they are good quality, but it seems like hit or miss.

@PinkyPetunia

Do you size up for the bottom sheet?

I'm just the opposite!  I hate flat sheets.  I don't use them.

Darn, I would have sent mine to you.Woman LOL

I believe Bloomingdales on line sells separate sheets.  I've bought fitted sheets only from them.  They are a little pricier though.

@Carmie

Correction. I "misspoke". I meant to say I was thinking of sizing up to full size for the bottom so they stay tucked in better.

Re: Does anyone else hate fitted sheets?

I don't like putting fitted sheets on the bed.  I'm get the ends mixed mixed up and going from side to side until I get it right.  But once on our king sized bed, they fit perfectly fine.
