I would say yes if it was 1984...everything looks really dated and 80's to me.

@jubilant All I see is a couch. What am I missing?
Where I come from a bench & a couch/sofa are 2 different types of furniture. I consider this a bench.......
Would you consider this a couch/sofa too?
The naming of such furniture regional?
@Mz iMac The woman in the article referred to this as a bench. I don't really consider it as that myself. Neither would I call it a sofa or couch!

My first thought was "My bench of many colors, that my momma made for me; made only from rags..."
No, I wouldn't have it in any circumstance.

I would like to see the rest of the room to know if this bench will work.
Bench is cute but not sure what else it goes with.
I'm definitely not a interior designer.

If she had asked me, @jubilant , I'd say I didn't think so.
And I tend to be moderately eclectic, so for me to nix the blending of two different styles is somewhat unusual for me!
But it looks like her house and her other furnishings are a mix of contemporary and midcentury modern, and that little sofa/settee/bench (whatever we're calling it) with its curvy but traditional lines, and semi Queen Anne legs, PLUS the patchwork nature of its upholstery, is too incongruent, in my opinion. Too much!
In any event, 'the patchwork look' on something that classic, is never going to work, in any setting, other than maybe a funky children's playroom, in my opinion.
I feel bad for her, if she already invested in that sofa! She could have it covered, in a nice solid perhaps, and use it in a part of the house away from the strong midcentury vibes-- maybe in a guest room?

My mantra has always been it's your home and if you love it find a spot for it. Maybe a bedroom, a landing etc.

I would put the multi colored bench in a hallway or a bedroom.
I would have to see the rest of the space to place furniture. I taught Interior Design.

In my parlance, the 'bench' is some form of settee or love seat and as to whether or not it 'fits in the house, I'd have to see more of the house to make that sort of judgment. Overall though, I can say that I don't much care for any of the aspects of this home that I'm seeing here. I mean there's just nothing here drawing me in.

No , not with that sofa. The bench despite having some colors white, red from the sofa is more of something that I'd see in a shabby chic decor or bed room area or Grandma's house .
