Is it the same house? It is two different styles. No to the first. The second one looks fine where it is. Those vertical blinds are a big no. JMO

To me it looks like the OP took a pix of a sofa and is wondering if it would work in that home. My answer is

Yes, it would work in that house. But I never buy furniture that screams "Look at me! I'm so clever and artsy."
I know I'll hate it within six months.
****I'd also give some more thought to how you could use that space at the bottom of the stairs. In my house, the bench would become a place where I throw my coat. Would anyone really want to sit in that spot?
