What do you think about this entrance?

A bit much.  Nix the checkerboard and replace with a solid color and that would be fine.

Love it!  It's my kind of entry .... if my apartment had an entry!  (You walk into the dining area which is black and white.)  

My kitchen has black/white checkerboard walls and counters.  My desk has the same.  All my pictures have black matting and frames.

Black furniture and red accents ... red carpet in living room / black and red curtains.

Basically I think it's rather elegant except there are too many opposing motifs.  The design on the stair treads ruins the whole effect for me.  They need to plain black or white and unadorned.

Love the floor and decor...but I don't like carpeted stairs, especially carpeted in a pattern. But, all in all, divine!

Even though I like the elegant look,  it’s not for me.

Divine!  Except, not good for dog lovers as most furbabies would have quite a time descending that stairway and it may be dizzying for them.
