Dishwasher recommendations

With all the discussion about noisy refrigerators, it got me thinking about my dishwasher that needs replacing. It's almost 18 years old and washes terribly- I tried t a vinegar wash and it barely made a difference. An 18 year old appliance has lived it's life!

Best Buy has a free installation deal on Frigidaire's - they're rated well by Consumers- does anyone have a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher they can comment about? I'm leaning toward the higher level model that has the stainless tub.

Love my Bosch ... Tall tub, stainless interior, so quiet I have to check to make sure it's on. Mine is ten years old and working great. Whatever you buy, get one with an energy star rating. Good luck with your choice! LM

They don't make them like they used to. I just got a Frigidaire. The installer said they all last about 7 yrs now with the Bosch, maybe 10. I must say the Frigidaire is totally quiet and does a better cleaning job than my old Maytag.

i have a 2 drawer fisher-paykel and it is going on its 8th year. it is quiet, very low profile, and i like that i can do one drawer OR both drawers at the same time.

i would say whatever brand you go with dont expect it to last 18 years again. it seems like nothing will last that long anymore.

In hindsight I'm way overdue to get a new dishwasher. I practically wash the dishes before I load the dishwasher! For 18 years it's gone through all the motions/cycles just fine, but nothing's ever 'clean'.

Bosch is very highly rated on Consumer Reports- I was looking at them until I found out Best Buy is only doing free installation (in my area that runs around $200!) on the Frigidaires. CR rates them highly as well!

KitchenAid with the stainless steel tub. It runs silent and is energy efficient. It holds all of my pots and pans and ceramic dishes. Not all racks hold the thicker dishware. It has a number wash/dry options that I wanted depending on what I had in there. It wasn't too crazy in price.
