I wouldn't recommend sitting there to those living in earthquake territory.

'Funny', but throughout the years, I've seen decorated homes on TV, and on various sites, with heavy mirrors hanging above the headboard.

That would make me nervous.

One never knows when something underground might shift, even in non-earthquake-prone areas.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

The accents make the small space look crowded not unsafe.

Obviously the books are just decorative no way could you get them without a ladder.

I don't like the shelf running across the window....would never do that.  And as someone else said, what a pain to dust.

I like my "things" to be easily accessible so I can use them.  And I am aware of what is placed above seating areas....guess it is one of my quirks!

I'm not sure what's to be worried about unless you live in an earthquake zone! The chandelier is no different than what many people would hang above a small table, and the shelves look like they'd be fine - except for that earthquake zone. Nothing is totally safe!

@lolakimono

This dining nook is cute.

I don't think the hook hanging shelves are practical though.  I'd think removing & replacing the items would eventually loosen those hooks?  I would be wondering about this if it were a place that's used often for dining.

It's nothing I would consider doing.
