Interestingly enough, while I don't much care for any of the elements I think this is a sweet little dining nook and it wouldn't bother me to eat there under the shelves or the ceiling fixture.

It wouldn't even occur to me to think, uh-oh, someday those shelves might fall down, raining pottery and books on me.    I must be more happy-go-lucky than I thought!

It's a cute little bistro-like spot, with some of my favorite things-- a green view, good light, and collected pottery and books, nicely organized.

I like that space, although I might change the table and chairs.  The shelving and light fixture don't appear as intimidating to me as that chandelier right over the bed that you posted.

I would be okay, but I wouldn't want my tall husband to sit there. I'm afraid he might hit his head on the shelving if he stood up too close to the wall!

@KaySD  I get that.  But then there's me saying my most fervent hope is to die in my sleep and just pass away.  It could be a plus.  Smiley Wink

Either way, I may never look at my chandelier the same way again now.  Good thing it's small.

I'd forget about them and enjoy my dining.

I'd pass. In fact I don't sit under the big suspended cathedral lights in my hundred year old church.

No problem sitting under a shelf like this in a shop, but I don't like it enough to recreate it.Smiley Happy
