If it's something really special, I'll use Woolite, but for everyday laundry I use the same kind on everything. I get the Kirkland (Costco house brand) version of Tide. Most of the time it's the liquid with the dispenser on the bottle, but I have purchased the little pods when they were promo'd with a coupon.

I usually buy the cheaper brands such as Extra, Purex, Arm and Hammer, I have never in my 40 years of keeping house found any of the higher priced ones to be more effective. I use Woolite for Darks on dark items that I want to make sure do not start to fade out.

I use whatever is least expensive and has a scent I like. I don't have heavily soiled stuff or stain issues.

But - I don't put all my clothes in the washing machine - I wash a lot of things (tops, sweaters) by hand as I wear them.

Tide, but I am very fickle with my fabric softener and change when a new scent calls to me or there is a great sale. Nothing cleans as well for me as Tide has. I remember lugging home the enormous boxes of powder and it seemed to last much longer. The good old days for everything seem to be ending.

I have a ton of allergies so I use the Shaklee products for the laundry and most of the cleaning. It works well weather you have new or old appliances. I order it twice a year and it keeps well in the laundry. You only use a small amount and the clothes come out clean and fresh. I use Woolite on the super delicates.

I use Mrs. Meyer's laundry detergent exclusively. Cruelty free, biodegradable, smells lovely. There are many scents (basil, parsley, rosemary, honeysuckle, peony, geranium, lemon verbena - it goes on). Like Tique, I, too, order from Soap.com but I have ordered from Mrs. Meyer's web site directly. I use the product on all household laundry. It's a high-efficency detergent so a large bottle lasts a very long time, as only a small amount is necessary

The household cleaning products are nice, too, and I love the liquid hand soap. Some of the line can be found at Target, at least in my area.

I use the same detergent for all loads. I have no brand loyalty. Tide, All, Gain, Purex, etc.

I also use Kirkland Ultra Clear (Free & Clear). I learned that we only need to use one tablespoon of liquid detergent for a full load (and less for a smaller load). Most of us (including me) were using too much detergent. I use cold water for everything except for towels - I use Warm!!!!

I started making my own and quit buying ready made.

DH is allergic to Tide.
