Tide unscented on everything but darks. On all jeans, and dark colored clothes, I use either Woolite or Cheer for dark clothes.

I used Arm & Hammer Free.....w/no perfumes............sometimes the perfumes from the detergents are so overpowering.

I use the same detergent (Tide) for everything. But, I do wash on different cycles depending ont he item. Also, I do not put fabric softener in towels, but do in everything else.

I've been using mostly the Purex brand one for years. Seems fine to me. I use the unscented one for everything for me, the dog, and the bird. I use the lightly scented one for the husband's stuff because it doesn't bother him and he likes it.

One I simply cannot use is Tide. That makes me physically ill. Even if I go in somebody's house who uses Tide I get sick within a few minutes.

But the bottom line is - use whatever YOU like. Choices are good. Smiley Happy

I was buying unscented/clear/free etc but since I give my clothes an extra rinse decided I don't need to do that. Usually purchase Tide/Wisk and for bamboo sheets Ivory Snow/Dreft.

I use Mrs. Meyers because cruelty-free is important to me. My clothes seldom get very soiled (maybe during spring gardening, in which case I'll wash those jeans separately) so I always use about half the recommended amount of detergent. My linens and clothing are very clean with no buildup.

A second rinse concerns me due to water usage. That's about 20 extra gallons of potable water literally down the drain -- when a good chunk of the country is experiencing drought.

I kinda do the same thing, I use All Free/Clear for our towels, not so much because of the no perfume/dye, but because towels don't get soiled as much as clothing does and it's a good price. Clothing I like Whisk Deep Clean, used to use Tide, but even with club price's and coupons it can still be $10 or more than other brands.

I use Nellie's All Natural Laundry Soda. I got it last summer from HSN, and so far I really like it. Good for my septic system and my family. I only use a tablespoon per load, so maybe I'm saving money, too. Not a lot of suds, but it does get laundry clean.
