Now I know why I did great at my "yard" sale!!!!

Today decided to go to find just some "small" accent pieces for my guest bathroom I changed to a beach theme.

Sounds crazy but I was a little shocked by the prices especially in Michaels & Joanne's.  For instance, I was looking at a small accent faux succulent plant in a shell (about 3" x 3") it was $29.99 w/40% off was $18.98🙄.

I didn't buy anything in any of the stores!!!  Maybe, I should think about hitting yard sales.  I'm certainly out of touch with prices I guess -- Homegoods, Marshall's  had nice beach theme things although bigger (size) than I wanted.

Re: Decorating - geez prices!

@homedecor1 Have you been to Hobby Lobby? IMO they have the best theme selection I’ve seen. They have a large metal kitchen sign I’m wanting to buy.

@OKPrincess

yes in fact I was there yesterday & fell in love with a "beach" coastal colored console table but $159 (& that's 30% off) I didn't want that bad!

about a year ago, I bought the cutest little table/bench for my guest bathroom so today I put in there.  Yes, beach stuff very limited in our HL store -- guess because we have "summer" year round😉

I don't think those pieces were on sale.  Aren't the metal pieces 1/2 price (50% off) this week?

@homedecor1 I don’t know if they are on sale this week or not but you can get great ideas. I haven’t bought the sign yet because it’s $69 and I need to be sure where I’m using it first.

I bought this from Hobby Lobby for my bathroom. Happy hunting. It’s fun.image.jpg

@homedecor1 ~ If you can wait, try Pier 1 at their end of season sale.  I just bought a bunch of Easter/Spring things there that were 75% off.  If I paid full price everything would have cost roughly $450.00.  I paid $115.00 including tax.  Love, love, LOVE a good sale!  :-)

@homedecor1  Think about making some of your pieces. Seashells on sand is just delightful and you can place it in jars, vases....anything that is clear.

Beach glass in an apothecary jar is sooo pretty and especially for a bathroom.

Buy seashells in a package in Michaels and arrange in a tray.

Much less expensive and you have the pleasure of making your own.

@Regal Bee

yes normally I do but I wanted "instant" gratification...translates to "I'm too lazy"!😉

Then if I would add up buying things to make it -- it's usually more!  Of course, there's no gratification that you made it, right???

I was surprised about the changes of using coupons in Michaels (& Joann's) I bought a bag of seashells $7.99 at Michaels  (used my 40%) then i got a "bonus" additional 15% off any reg or sale item.   The cashier wouldn't take it because you have to "buy more than 1 item"😳.

In Old Time Pottery they have nice but pricey pre-made arrangements.  I saw one I liked for $14.99 -- i'm sure i'll go back. I saw exact same planter in Bealls double the price.  Although, Bealls & Bealls Outlet always have beach things.

Not feeling so great maybe I'll go another day when I feel "motivated & crafty"!

@Julie928

I scored at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago.  Not for me but my niece who is slowly (with my help) building her holiday decor.

Actual price would have been over $125 i think I paid about $35 (75% off).  I know she did Pier 1 and Pottery Barn sale.  We can never have enough bunnies🐰🐇!  🙈🙊

Great job on saving $$$$
