Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Getting a box of beauty items ready to be sent to Project Beauty Share.  Decluttered some eyeshadow palettes, blushes, sponges that were new in packaging, etc.  Will hopefully get to the Post Office this week to send the box on it's way.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Sometimes I can really get caught up in the minutiae of the process. I wanted to consolidate my Baggallini handbags into a nice heavyweight box that I recenly received from an online order.

I have a lot of shelving and cubbies above our hanging clothes (11 ft. ceilings) and that is where I keep my handbags. If I haven't mentioned it before, I love boxes, but this plain cardboard was not aesthetically pleasing to my eye. So with the help of my husband we covered it with wrapping paper. Wow! That was an awkward project and I will never recover the time spent doing it. Oh well, it's done now and it does look neat if not beautiful! Haha!

In addition to that, I decided to let go of an Aimee Kestenberg bum bag, a Coach makeup bag and threw out a couple of makeup bags not worth donating.

@JudyL - That is so nice that you are sending your items to Project Beauty Share. Shipping is so expensive nowadays.

I set aside a large skillet to donate (my son said they had lots of pans) and tossed an eyeliner.

[ Edited ]

Next time I do my Project beauty share shipment I'm going to use a USPS dedicated box at a specific price.  When I tried to send one last year it was going to be over $35 and I then decided to take the items to work to let coworkers a chance to take anything.  It was all gone in a few minutes. Although it's a great cause, I didn't want to spend another $35 to send it. (It wasn't that big of a box either).  I'm really trying to use up what I have and also change my spending habits on beauty!

When we did our annual Spring cleaning, I went through every drawer and cabinet in the kitchen. Well, the junk drawer had somehow filled up again! I tossed three cords for fairy lights, because I use batteries in them. They go inside some hurricane lanterns, so running off a cord doesn't work. Nearly empty tape rolls, broken pencils, a couple of Allen wrenches, cracked furniture sliders....all gone. I found some Jello and cake mix in the pantry cabinet that was slightly beyond their expiration dates. Guess what I'll be making - poke cake.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I took a bunch of stuff to consignment late this morning.

I want to keep the tone of my post here neutral so as to stay within the rules, but I am more than somewhat concerned about possible changes to the economy.  So.....I was ruthless with the purses today. I took 6 to consignment. If I was borderline on them, even just a little, out they went.  I would be more than thrilled to get some $$ for purses I am borderline on or not using.  Strike while the iron is hot maybe. In any case, as of right now, I'd like to recover some money on purses I've bought.  And then let the purse collection sit still for awhile.

I also took 1 NWT shirt and an unopened shower gel.

At consignment, they told me they have been overwhelmed with dropoffs in the last month so maybe I am not alone with my thinking. Or course, the season is changing so that would add to it.  And they told me that 2 consignment shops in the area just closed and that people have bringing their things to "my" consignment shop.  They are backed up, but they never stop accepting. And, they have already priced and tagged the items I took today and I'm so appreciative since they're running 3-4 weeks behind.  But, I think I brought them things that should turn pretty quickly, I hope.

I also took a small bag to Goodwill today. Nothing exciting in it.

Returned a pair of Jeggings to Talbots.

Going to go through and take another look at my things in the next few days.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@AuntG - I'm laughing at your post, because I have quite a few Allen Wrenches (in various sizes) in my Junk Drawer too! Smiley Very Happy

@AuntG   I haven't made a poke cake in years!   I'm going to make one soon.  Yum.  We just top with cool whip, and a little sprinkle of sanding sugar.   Maybe I'll make a lime one for St. Patrick's day.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@lynnie61  Our idea of what  we consider "No Buy" works for us!  It does limit our accumulating but allows us to indulge some.  After all, we can't be perfect!  Your weakness is beauty products; mine is clothes.  Too bad I did not start this limited buying years ago!

Thank goodness I have always been a motivated purger or I would really be overrun.  I love to organize and along with purging keeps things in order.
