Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

@rnmom   Wow, 19!  I'm sure it's hard thinking about it.

A friends son last year moved out on his own.  I gave him tons of extra kitchen stuff I had (new and lightly used).  So it helped me declutter and my friend didn't need to also help him get essentials.  My dad used to get a lot of casino give aways, and never used them.  I gave him at least 10-12 of those.  Small kitchen appliances, cookware and sheets!  I was glad to share and declutter, and he was thankful he didn't have to purchase all these items starting out.

Today I tossed 3 tubes of mascara.  Not much but it was something.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I had 3 bags of clothes / shoes I was taking to a thrift store I usually donate to on the way there I saw a sign at another TS saying donations needed
I decided to stop to see if they could use the things they were so happy to get the things the woman said they needed donations to help people getting out of rehab
She said Most are in need of clothes, home goods and furniture
I told her I’d drop off more things in a few weeks
I’m going to try to find more things to donate this week

@JudyL   I swear the mascaras are half dry when I buy them.  Doesn't matter if drug or department store, or Ulta or Sephora.  I have one spare only now.  I bought three last year on sale, probably were old!  I do swap out my mascara every three months.  It's the only cosmetic that I dump that frequently.

@Shihtzursqmom - That is so nice! So often times we hear that the donation centers are full too and aren't taking donations so it's nice when you know your items will be put to good use.

Most of the thrift stores close to me aren't open on Sundays and that's the day I'm most likely to be free to drop off stuff. So I have stuff sitting here all the time. I've been taking some of it to a food pantry that I help out at. They have some tables for non food items that people can bring in and it seems that everything I've taken in so far has gotten taken. So that has been nice. I still have stuff here that I need to take somewhere and it's bugging me.

@lynnie61 - Me too! I don't buy a lot of mascara but I just opened a brand new one that I bought not that long ago and I feel like it's half dried out too. The last one I opened was too.

I tossed 2 of hubby's bandanas/hankies that our dog chewed holes in. I guess it's better than shoes or furniture, those at least are cheap to replace.

Went through an armoire drawer as I was changing around some winter to summer.

Tossed a ratty old sweater.

Put aside an old D&C top, still good enough to donate, I'm just over it. Started a new donate bag with that.

Almost tossed some old SG cropped leggings, but then realized I can work out with them, maybe, for a while until I decide I'm over them too! Put them in my workout clothes drawer.

Finished up a small Philosophy "Snow Angel" perfume spray.

Went through some very old email files & tossed a lot of now irrelevant items...consolidated some of the remaining related info to one file. They were divided by years but can be combined now.

Went through a bag in my closet that holds catalogs from my last fashion buyer gig that ended in 2020...tossed some vendor lookbooks from the conventions. I should toss the whole bunch, only a few left, but a few vendors I want to keep their contact info because I still like their lines of clothing, case I want to look them up online.

That's it for decluttering today.

Gave 2 pair of Flats to a friend (at church) on Sunday - Brand new, and never worn, but I didn't like the way they fit my feet. Smiley Wink

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

One more thing today, out of my car trunk...was in the town where the animal shelter is and I dropped off a small blanket I decluttered a few months ago! They're not around the corner from me, so I was glad I was in that town for an appt. and had the blanket in the car.
