Last week I posted about a long bench pillow that I'd put in the trash and pulled back out again.

Tomorrow is trash day and it's back in the trash. I thought briefly about trying to get the cover off, discard the worn out foam, have the cover professionally cleaned. And then I got stuck. What would I do with the cover after that????

I tried for about 2-3 minutes to get the foam insert out of the cover and it just wouldn't budge. I took that as a sign.  It is now back in the trash and will stay in the trash.  I have a picture of the pillow and that will work.

I am so glad that you are sharing an update on the beloved bench cushion. I don't think I chimed in on your original post knowing that only you can decide when it was time to let go. Sometimes we need to be in a different frame of mind. That can take minutes, days, week, months, or whatever.

While the original cushion is gone, I hope the bench displayed in your foyer with a brand new cushion brings you sweet memories every time you take a moment to really look at it.

@magicmoodz - thank you so much for your post. The new pillow looks great on the bench and I'm just so thrilled to have the bench. It is in my front entry and I see a gazillion times a day.  And I think of my mom and dad, who I miss very much.

I think I was able to let go of the pillow because it was a sunny day, mild temperatures and we weren't expecting snow.  That weather we were expecting last week had me a little unsettled because we hardly every get snow here. So here was indecision. This week, time for the trash.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I haven’t been burning candles anymore, but I’ve kept a few because the jars are pretty.  I just threw two of them out and only have a couple more to go.  I don’t want to make the trash bag too heavy at once.

I’ve gone through my makeup and tossed mascara, eye liners, and eye shadows.  Got all fresh stuff for the health of my eyes, but I’ve simplified my makeup routine so don’t need much.

At the beginning of the year I went through my pantry room, tossed two almond milks that were a year out of date.  That’s it!  I’ve been keeping up pretty well.

I have a rack full of lock & locks that I sorted through with the idea of donating some.  But nope, not one went out.  I just organized them all, which is kind of funny because the reason I have so many lock & locks is because they appeal to my sense of wanting to be organized.

I still have areas to go through, but after years of decluttering, I’m at a standstill.  I like my stuff!  George Carlin would make fun of me, but that’s all right.  😊

But I keep reading because it’s interesting to see what everyone is decluttering, and I may get some ideas of areas where I could still make some progress.

3 years of Consumers Reports to recycling.

Things that I had bagged for donation dropped off.

Tossed one small jar of a lip mask that I never used and couldn't remember how old it was.

No real decluttering however, returning an item to Talbots, does that count? Ha! 😆

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I burned several candles through December and finished one this week.  I have one more to burn, but I'm not buying more for now.  I think for now I'm going to use my oil diffuser that uses essential oils.  I have one more candle that I got for Christmas to use up.

I tossed a very old pair of snow boots.  Got a new pair last month that are perfect for cold and snow.

I have a big bag for the local animal shelter, but their website says they now have an over abundance of sheets/throws/blankets/towels.    I'll try to look for another animal shelter to donate it to.  A few comforters, so those may go in the next vets pick up instead.  I'm surprised with this cold, wet weather that they are overstocked.

@Fifi1 - Yes! Returning an item does count! As long as it's out of your house it counts.

@rnmom Well, one exchange, and three items in! 🤔

Will look in my closet to see what I can purge since I just added to!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Finishing up my three day weekend off from work and I went through my closet and got rid of clothes that no longer fit me.  I have clothes from when I was heavier and I guess I was holding onto them just in case.  I have plenty of clothes that fit me well at the size I am now so it is not like I will have a reason to go out and buy new stuff. As I was going through the closet I found some heavy sweaters that I can wear this week to work since the temperatures will be in the teens, single digits with the wind chill.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Just a few little purges this wk so far..No big projects going yet lately, just doing things as I find them in my daily rounds.

I put that extra old throw blanket aside to bring to animal shelter when I'm in the area...going to keep it in the trunk of my car 'til then.

Went through a bathroom vanity drawer, tossed an extra empty small Philosophy bottle; I use these to decant big bottles of Purity etc, for travel size. I only need the two in there, this was extra and kind of beat up.

While in that drawer, I went through current prescription paperwork, I keep in case I need directions or to refer to them...had dupes in there I tossed.

Tossed an old Mally eyeshadow...I like the color, a metallic cool silver shimmer, but it was I don't know how old (though I never used it often) and the other day when I wore it my eyes teared and bothered me all day...had to be that because it's the only different eye product I used with my regular daily makeup that day.

Threw out a sock with hole. Athletic ones I only just bought...came in an 8 pack in various neutrals...I guess they're not going to last long by the looks of this one already being holey. We'll see.

That's it for now!
