I use wall calendars too.
This year was the first year I've actually had to buy a couple because I didn't get any free ones in the mail. Even the charities are decluttering, I guess!
I still use them also...one up in my kitchen and one up in my office. I love the pretty visuals, refer to them often, and take great care in picking them out each year.

Thank you for the post @rnmom and Happy New Year to all!
As @jackthebear is doing I'm decluttering my main closet and additionally the bedroom.
Have been pleased with QVC purchases and more so than organizational items sourced locally. Received one of the bamboo 2 tier racks, 3 more are on their way
I also got out the labeler and attached to my newly sorted closet boxes.
I still have many hours of decluttering to do but it feels like a breath of fresh air already. One more pic, I've had this set for a year and a half and even though late in the season I wanted to finally put it on the bed. It fits in nicely here in Colorado.

I haven’t participated in this thread before. I just went through a major purge. I moved to a retirement apartment 3 years ago and got rid of at least 80% of what I owned. Having one closet keeps me from having much, or so I thought. It’s interesting how one thing here or there adds up when there isn’t much space.
I have two large trash bags full of clothes that are ready to donate. They are things I haven’t worn since I got here. I wasn’t sure what I would wear or use in this setting. I also shredded old tax returns and bank statements. It has freed up space in my closet and assigned storage space. Things feel much better. Going forward, I hope to use the “one in and one out” rule.

@cotton4me - welcome to our decluttering thread! We have a good, supportive group here.

Love everything you've done, especially the bedding.
I'd use that in Maryland since I live in the woods.
So fresh looking.

Thanks, @rnmom, and Happy New Year, everyone. Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time going through files, purging unnecessary papers, statements, etc. This morning it was shredding time. Had to empty the shredder 4 1/2 times, lol. So glad that chore is done. I find it to be so boring. Then, as I am preparing to repaint all the inside woodwork (or at least in the public rooms) this winter, I finally removed the hardware for the baby gate I had to keep my blind dog from falling down the stairs. She passed a year ago in November and I had taken the gate itself off, but never the hardware. I will donate the gate with the hardware, along with some hanging file folders that for some strange reason don't seem to fit in the file drawers properly.
Glad to see the thread so active already and welcome the newcomers. Yep, everything counts!

Tossed some "Christmas Candy" that was given to us (stale/not our favorites)
Tossed 2023 Wall Calendars and hung 2 new ones
So far, that's it, but it's just January the first, right?

@rnmom Hi and Happy New Year....I'm new to this welcoming thread, however, not new to purging. My DH is a pack rat though...
Does deleting messages and emails on my laptop count? I can't stand to keep them very long at all. Out they go.
We have two very large plastic bags overflowing in the garage to be donated. I keep adding to them almost daily.
Tossed a couple used up pens just yesterday. Who knew that counted? But I'll take it because I'm not much of a collector or saver anymore. This thread will help me stick to my guns, as they say. Gee, can we still say that???

Put all my Christmas decorations away today and have a bag of old ornaments and some other miscellaneous items that are ready to go.
So great to see all the new posts - Welcome! - and what a great start everyone is off to decluttering in 2024.
