Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

@rnmom

Your post reminded me I had not received my 2024 Wall Calendars ordered back in December.

I bought the "frames" from Lang for them years ago, and continue to order the calendars.  It keeps them out of the way.

Checked and they are arriving later today.

I still like seeing a paper calendar on the wall even though they are unnecessary with all the electronic stuff Cat Happy

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

I have just been plugging along.  Faithfully looking every day for things I don't use or want.

I have taken probably 5 shopping bags of stuff to Goodwill in the last 2 weeks. 3 of the bags were big bags. The other 2 were small but they were all filled.  I have a very small bag ready to go to Goodwill now.

I also have been taking a bunch to consignment though that is slowing down right now.  I do have 3 small things ready for them though.

My goal for 2024 is the same one I always have. Keep the house lean, uncluttered and organized. It's just how I live my life.

January 1st every year, I totally stop buying winter clothes. I feel like if I made it to January and we have turned the corner and can see spring way off in the distance and I've done fine clothes wise so far, then I don't want anymore new winter things. And I really have a minimal amount of winter clothes. I live in the south.  I did add a pair of Skechers clog slide things fairly recently which are the most comfortable shoes. I've been enjoying those.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

I started the Swedish Death Cleaning process last year. I still have to clean out a deep hallway closet. The shelves are packed with towels, toiletries & healthcare products. I've been avoiding it because I will need to set up a folding table in order to empty it out & go through everything. It's going to be a time consuming adventure.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

Happy New Year to all my fellow Purgers!

it's been a minute. Looking forward to successful decluttering in 2024.

To kickoff the New Year I have started a donation bag: just one handbag and one sweater, but it's a start on Day 1.  Also starting a Christmas decor donate box with a small Santa.

Will also be calling the local auction house to see about consigning large lots of china and serving pieces in a popular Johnson Bros. pattern. Bought at thrift recently for resale.

[ Edited ]

All good words and/or actions for another year - roast, purge, declutter.

Problem - none of these worked for 2023.

Wonder if and when these will happen in 2024.

Yep I know what you're saying, it's all up to me.

We will see...

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

I have passed by this thread umpteen times.  But it is time for me to join.  I need help with this process.  I am glad to see that even throwing out a disfunctional pen counts,  That I can do!

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

And, just like that, since I was doing nothing, I got up and went through my bathroom, bedroom closet and bedroom.

I'm a year round faithful purger but sometimes after all the excess of the holidays all around us,  I really get on a tear.  And that was this morning.

I added 4 purses for consignment. I have drastically reduced the number of purses I have in the last few months. Still have too many but purses are my thing.

3 pairs of pants for consignment, 3 for Goodwill. 3 sweaters for consignment. 1 pair of shoes, brand new, for consignment.  I think that might be all I added today. After I've taken a shower I'll go through the living room and kitchen which will take at most 10 minutes.

@Witchy Woman

I use wall calendars too.

This year was the first year I've actually had to buy a couple because I didn't get any free ones in the mail.  Even the charities are decluttering, I guess!
