Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I stopped at Goodwill this morning and gave them a lamp and a shopping bag a little more than half full with just small stuff.

Still just chipping away at stuff.  I am so over what I've always called "setty around stuff". When I move, some of the setty around stuff is not going with me.  Some is certainly, but not all or even remotely close to all of it will go with me.

Time to open another shopping bag. They're harder to fill now because I've already parted with so much.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@LonestarBabs, that's a hard job to do. Been there, done that. Big hugs to you.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I'm saving my 13 boxes & bags for Vets til January, 2021😉 because they won't pick up til 1/4/21.  Then I'm saying "goodbye 2020".

Wow...has it been a whole year already I've been clearing out "excess" stuff.  Sadly, there are other places like garage & attic full of seasonal decor & more to tackle..😳

It's actually "freeing" me -- my niece told me her mom, me and a few others need Marie Kondo because living minimally is wonderful🤔.  She's too funny her home is decorated minimally but so beautiful...she said "She can re-train your brain to not need stuff".

Gotta love her and I do🙂🙂😉

Goodbye excess & 2020🙂

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@gidgetgh - I hear you on the "setty around stuff". When I first moved out and got my own home I had a lot more of those types of things, decorations on the walls, tables, etc. Now other than a family picture or two I don't care if I have any of that stuff out. Just more to clean around, and I do enough of that as it is.

@homedecor1 - I'm going to try to remember to start a new thread for 2021 too, so please look for it as you continue on your declutter journey!

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I worked for a few minutes in my storage room yesterday breaking down some boxes. I had several of them taking up too much space but wanted to keep them, so I broke them down and stacked them against the wall so as to not take up so much space.

I did put a couple of them into the recycle bin and also tossed a bag of plastic bags from the grocery store. Man, those accumulate fast, and I can't recycle them.

Tossed a plastic storage bowl that has seen better days, the lid  had a big chunk out of it from dropping it, and the inside of the bowl was pretty worn. I'm looking forward to a new, small set of lock n lock for Christmas.

@gidgetgh

That setty around stuff is exactly what I hate!

@rnmom

Thank you🙂. My goal is to be done completely by March 1st.

I have one more bathroom remodel scheduled but may put off til Fall.

I'm trying my best to stay "minimal" for 2021🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I finished my Christmas wrapping yesterday and reduced the pile of boxes sitting in my bedroom a bit. I did break down and save a couple of the nicer ones, but I did put a few into recycle too. Also added a couple of wrapping paper tubes to recycle. Hubby still has to wrap mine, so there are still a couple boxes in the bedroom, but almost done!

I don't know if I will buy any holiday wrap after Christmas this year or not. Last year we purposely went out after Christmas to get wrap, lights, ornaments, etc. but I don't think that I will worry about making a special trip out this year. If I happen to stumble on a deal maybe, but if not, I think we'll be fine until next year.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I tried to donate tree and other items and Goodwill worker said they are stuffed with holiday items and refused them. Said come back this summer.

I have a tub of Jim Shore Items I would like to sell but who has money nowadays?
