Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Tossed a few odds/ends and going thru my massive lipstick/gloss "collection" soon!

How one can accumulate that many, I just don't know!

Since our area is on lock-down until at least 1/5 we will be home much of Christmas Break so going thru rubbermaid bins we've accumulated for way too many years and purging!  I have so many pictures - i need to decide if I need to keep all or get rid of -or just let our son have to dump them someday!!!!

We have lived in our house for 30 years  - so many memories of son growing up and our parents visiting, etc.  hard to go thru everything, so a little at a time!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

While pulling out some Christmas cookbooks to look through, I found some free soft cover cookbooks that came with my magazine subscriptions. I recycled them (Pinterest recipes, slow cooker recipes and country casseroles). Cut out four of the recipes, but I'd never make the rest of them.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

As my son and I were taking the trash cans/recycle out yesterday I found a couple of things from out of the garage to toss and take with us: 2 yard signs and 2 plastic ice cream pails. Hubby uses these for all sorts of things outside, but we still have around 8 of them so I think we have plenty until next summer when we start buying party pails again!

Yay, my donations center re-opened, so I took a trunkload of things in to drop off. Also, took a bag of dog toys to the animal shelter, (after I washed them, of course) those doggo's need toys too.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

My sis stopped by today and delivered bags of gifts from herself and my other sister.  And she took my gifts to family to drop off (no family party this year).

I sent with her a battery operated radio I cannot get the batteries inserted into....to see if her husband can.  I told her if not, to toss.  Also sent a gift box of spices I probably wouldn't use for her daughter-in-law (a fabulous cook) and a fruitcake for her hubs.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I haven't been actively decluttering, just tossing unwanted things as I come across them.

This week it is a mask I purchasing months ago that didn't stand up to a couple washings, 2 pens that no longer write that were purchased when I started selling Avon around 2002 or so, and a VCR tape from 1998.

Happy Holidays everyone. Be safe.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I continue to chip away at things, anticipating a move in late spring or early summer.

I have a smallish bedroom lamp from one of our spare bedrooms ready to take to Goodwill tomorrow along with a few small things. I'll have 2 less bedrooms than we have now so things have to go.  I've taken two other shopping bags of stuff to Goodwill in the last several days and some things to consignment.

I'm down to only 2 sets of sheets which is all I need or want.  And I only have 4 towels for the master bath and two towels downstairs if I'd ever have an overnight guest, which I never have.

I don't think that I'll ever be a true minimalist, and don't want to be, but I'm certainly leaning that way.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I haven't been actively decluttering anything either, just tossing as I come across stuff  too like @Eager2Learn . I tossed a sock with a hole in it and a bra that was coming apart after the last time I washed it.

I have been trying to continue to organize and keep things neat if possible, but not really decluttering. I stopped off at dollar tree yesterday and actually bought some plastic containers to organize some items in my pantry so that it's not spilling all over and just a jumbled mess. I haven't bought any type of storage containers, totes, etc in years.

I would like to go thru my kids room's over the Christmas break if they don't give me too much trouble. I don't know how much we will get rid of, but I'd like to make a quick pass and see if they have any outgrown clothes, toys, etc.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

[ Edited ]

I most recently purged 5, count 'em 5, large boxes of clothing from my elderly mother's closets. Some items never worn with tags still attached. A local no-kill animal shelter sent a truck to pick up my donations and now Mom's closets are empty of clothes! Still misc decor and craft items to clear out of there. Mom moved into a residential care home earlier this year and is on hospice, so all those clothes were just taking up space. Now they can be put to good use elsewhere!

I'm purging every month, it seems. So much stuff was donated this year! Next year I'll probably have an estate sale.

@LonestarBabs That is a physically AND emotionally tough job to tackle.  Sending you a cyber hug.
