Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I took a bunch of stuff to consignment yesterday afternoon.  Nothing exciting, just a bunch of stuff.  I also took a smallish shopping bag of things to Goodwill on Tuesday.

I have a new desk for the office being delivered this afternoon to replace the really large desk we had in there for over 15 years.  This desk is MUCH smaller.  I hope I didn't make a mistake with it. They didn't have ome in the store so I ordered it online.  I had the old desk picked up 2 months ago.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Organized my shoe closet over the weekend and moved to the front

all my winter boots. Tossed out one pair of gray boots and one pair

of summer sandals that pretty worn.

Making a bag for next trip to Goodwill. I have some old knickknacks,

ornaments and Disney albums from years ago when I was a kid.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

My favorite place to donate, a local church's "rummage rooms",  is still cautious during the pandemic, and so now you can only donate "by appointment".   But I don't blame the rummage room ladies-- they are the front line there, and they have every reason to take precautions.

It does take a little spontaneity out of throwing some things in a box and off to donate!   So I've started also donating to St. Vincent de Paul's in the next town, which doesn't have donating restrictions.   Have dropped a few boxes of assorted clothes, household items, and decor there in recent weeks.  Starting to fill a new box, sitting in my front vestibule.

The last few years, I've thinned a lot of my Christmas decorations out, but I think right after this Christmas I'll do another purge.  We have decorated with a slimmed-down but meaningful collection of Christmas things this year, and I like the 'less-is-more' look....

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

"My donations center" is closed as of today due to Covid, now I don't know what I will do with things I no longer want or need. I have 2 cookbooks pulled out that I never even use, but I guess they will just sit downstairs till they re-open, along with any other things I find along the way. Can't drop off cardboard right now either. This is not good with Christmas right around the corner. Not being selfish, I realize it's even worse for those who work there.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I put 2 magazines and 3 more cardboard boxes into recycle. I have a bunch of new boxes with Christmas gifts in them sitting in my bedroom so some need to go as I don't have room to keep them all.

Tossed a pair of hiking boots and winter boots that belonged to my younger son that he outgrew. They were a bit too beat up to donate. He already has replacements for both of course.

Put a small calculator in my donate bag, I still have several here. Just a few small things here and there, but I figure that any little bit helps.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Hubby went through his coats, pulled out a really heavy coat and a pair of coveralls. I want to find out if perhaps a homeless shelter or something similar could use them. He had gone through his jeans last week and I took a big stack of those to the donations center last week before it had to close.

Just bumping this up so that it doesn't get lost!

I added 2 books to my very small donate pile and a pair of sandals from my son.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Today's trash pickup held the last pair of shoes I wanted to get rid of and a fall basket that was an unpleasant reminder of the person who sent it to me, so it had to go.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Hubby went through some of his shoes (will wonders never cease, lol) had 2 pair to donate. I have not yet found where I can donate, but everything is in the car trunk if I happen across some place, lol. Not about to leave his stuff setting inside, he might change his mind about getting it out of here...just kidding.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I tossed a small pocket calendar that was a "gift" from a charity organization. I couldn't donate it because it had my name on it, but I just don't use them.

I had to toss a spoon that got caught in the garbage disposal and had sharp edges so that we couldn't use it anymore. That was a bummer.
