Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@Twins Mom: yes, the picnic was a blast! Perfect location under a big tree in my front yard and perfect weather. Since no one had anything better to do we hung out together until dinnertime when things reluctantly broke up and everyone headed home. I will do this again with a different small group of friends.

Back to purging: I found a hummingbird feeder in the garage so I did not need to purchase another. Score! Saved $ and a trip to Lowe's. A hummingbird found it right away and everyone at the picnic was amazed to see it.

Decidedly non- glam purges today: the old toilet seat in the master bath broke so that got tossed as well as a pair of panties whose elastic waist was shot.

Also tossed two bags of scones. If I am going to eat carbs I have to love them or they must go.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Trash day so I went through all but the bottom shelf of my freezer this morning and purged just a few unknown and forgotten food items. I needed to take inventory. Next up will be one or two shelves a day from the fridge.

Yesterday returned 3 items to the Q. Now that I have gone through my summer clothes I found that shorts and skorts that I ordered were not needed and were more $ than I wanted to spend.

While not a purge, I had guys come in yesterday to clean my windows. The windows were not bad- done when I moved in just over 18 months ago. Everything is so light and bright now. For me- money well spent. Next up : I have put in a work order for my gutters to be cleaned. I have 5 mature evergreens surround my living and dining rooms and they have been dropping old needles like mad! It's something that I need to have done twice a year, included in my HOA fees.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@queendiva

DH brought out from workshop a tall insulated picnic basket that we must have receive d years ago.  He took to trash and I brought back in.  I packed our yard picnic when grandson visited and he loved to help carry.  Eyes rolled on DH.  It's a keeper.

One shopping bag of clothes, one bag of purses, one insulated ice bucket never used, one never used omlet pan, and box of frames and pictures loaded in car for donation tomorrow.  More baby steps.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

My son outgrew 4 pair of sleep shorts so we added them to our donate bag. Only problem is now he only has one pair that fits, so we have to get him at least a couple more.

I haven't been doing a lot of decluttering but I have been doing a bit more "puttering" again lately. I went thru my one drawer in my hutch that is a catch all for all things that I want to keep temporarily and don't know what else to do with. I tossed a bunch of papers from out of there and recycled 3 catalogs.

I have a folder in my kitchen that I put all my take out coupons, menus etc in and I went thru that and tossed everything expired.

Used up a crossword puzzle book and recycled it. Tossed a few more socks with holes and an old toothbrush. Exciting stuff huh?

We have to make a Walmart run today and replace some of the things that we are getting low on, like socks, etc. The boys seem to wear them out like crazy.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

We have 2 peach trees in our yard that became prolific about 8 years ago or so.

Seven years ago, I purchased the Ball Jam & Jelly maker and accessories needed to be able to make jam. We made jam 2 years I think, then didn't want to bother with doing that again. The past 2 years we didn't have peaches, and the year before, we had plenty to share and freeze for cobbler.

Anyway, I decided to rehome the jam maker. It went to a lady from church and she was happy to receive it. Smiley Happy

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

We started purging things from the library this week. Our printer and filing cabinets are there along with the books. Therefore, there were overflowing desk organizers, boxes of paid bills going back more that 3 years, my old employment paperwork, and even my Vacation Bible School paperwork going back to the mid-1980s! We can finally see the top of the desk! It feels great!

@PA Mom-mom I detest paperwork.  I uncovered a small section of desktop recently.  That’s all. 😂   Too much paper.

I threw out some items from a bathroom closet.  I think that’s all for now.  I really need to use up some things now. Slow down on shopping.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

While this is really not the time of year when I do my purging, I have also not been bringing much in. What does come in are items that are given thoughtful consideration.

QVC with their non-existent shipping has also made it easy for me not to order anything.

I have hit the big box stores that have been open- the rest of retail is still closed until next week and I am not all that anxious to go running back .All my summer needs have been met.

Our county will go green on June 12.  Today we donated men's slacks, shirts, new socks, sweatshirts and sweaters to Community Aid thrift store.  Also donated bath and hand towels to dog shelter.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

First actual purge in a while.

Like many, I have collected clothes and maybe 3 pairs of shoes for when Goodwill reopens. Someone in my neighborhood posted online that her friend was in dire need of clothes in my size range. Not sure what "dire" means, but I just put out 2 large bags of clothes to the driveway to be picked up this morning. Happy to have them out of the garage and basement and most were already bagged and taking up space in my garage or car.
