I would totally choose a custom bed/bed frame; in fact, I have one.  I don't care for any of the ones pictured above, but since I don't care for "sets" having a unique piece mixed in with coordinating furniture is my preference.

We have a very large upholstered sleigh bed mixed with my grandmother's antique mahogony dresser, bureau and table.  Additionally in our bedroom I have a cherry desk, hand painted bedside tables, and a hand painted cabinet as well as an upholstered chaise.  It all works.

I don't like any of them and I guess I prefer a bedroom suite.

No, I wouldn't pay for a custom bedframe.  In fact, I ordered our king size base and headboard from Amazon.  It matches pretty well with the rest of the bedroom furniture.  Having a unique headboad is way down on my list of priorities!!!

We don't have a bedroom suite: No matching dressers or nightstands.  In fact, no dressers at all.  We just have the bed (ALF Italia Tivoli platform) and a couple floating nightstands that do not match the bed.

It's almost like having a custom bed, I guess.  (This isn't our bedroom -- it's from the website.)

I have antique tables for night stands and no dresser or chest of drawers.

I have shelves in the closet an antique drop center dresser, and my grandmother's crystal vanity which gives me 6 drawers.

Wow what unique bed frames and headboards. It doesn't matter to me to match furniture. Nothing in my bedroom matches, it compliments each other.

I would because I try to reuse items of all kinds, especially family pieces of furniture from my mother who had some older hand made pieces.  Not always the best construction but have value for me.

I would definitely buy a bed without any additional matched pieces, I don't like sets of furniture.

I like only the first one, kind of art deco in my eyes.

We've had some different bed frames, I have liked them all but I get tired of the look in our room so we've changed it out probably 4 times, styles in our time together (47 yrs now).

I don't really care for any of the frames posted. I'm not sure I need to custom design a frame. There are lots of choices out there as it is.

We bought a matching bedroom set back in the day. A few years ago we replaced the 4 poster bed because it was so big it took up way too much space in the room. We substituted a rod iron design frame with headboard and footboard. The rest of the pieces from the original set are pine. I don't need my bed to match the rest of my furniture any more.
