I agree with almost all the other comments. To me, the renovation seems designed primarily to create a pretty magazine photo. 

Both versions have some serious functionality flaws. though I think the before version is actually more workable. The before is dated, but that's fashion, not function, and fashion is in the eye of the householder, right?

Most people don't use kitchen desks like the one in the before, or at least don't use them well. The before version is also lumpy--by which I mean the cabinet tops are different heights, and there are all kinds of depths of cabinets and appliances. It makes visual clutter and doesn't add much as a trade-off. 

The after replaces the island and table with one large table. They could have also replaced it with a large island, assuming the idea was to have fewer visual masses. And the island in the before version was cramped, which limits its function as a worktop and as a seating area. But I agree, the table and chairs they selected int he after seem to be quite large for the space. Maybe smaller chairs that fit under the table all the way? Depends on who is going to be sitting there. Also, if they had just put in a lovely big island, we don't know, that table and chairs in the before might have been the only sit-down dining space in the house.

I also personally would have liked to see the upper cabs white to match the marble and the ceiling. The after ceiling is really well-done!

I could paint or replace the cabinets in the before and be happy. I love the color of the cabinets in the after. But I would lighten the floor some and get rid of the table.

I'd probably take a pass on both versions, but would have kept the 'before' table and chairs... About the 'after' version, do like the marble but don't like all that black...

I like the new kitchen. Looks like some serious cooking will get done in there with three ovens. lol. The table is too big. I would put a red round table to pop the room. I like all shades of green and all shades of red combos. The red I would use would be the same as the red in the cabinets on the left side. Almost like the "red" they had in the original table picture. Just slightly bigger.

I agree with @Drythe  that the older kitchen could have been worked with and tweaked.

I like the bones of the remodel.  The table and chairs need to go.  The table and chairs in the before picture are a better choice.

I really like the after. I would replace the table with a white table and different chairs.

I am not a fan of glass doors on cabinets but they do look nice here...for me it would be a no way. Maybe I could live with 1 or 2 glass door cabinets.

I like the before kitchen. It has personality and is more homey. While new kitchen is sleek and modern, I like people to hang around my kitchen and relax while I am cooking.

I am old fashioned I guess, because I prefer the before look!  I think it is lighter, brighter and more open and much more cheerful!  I'd love to have that kitchen and I wouldn't change a thing!

The after is nice, but a little dark for me and I do not care for the chairs!

Cabinets are too dark and make the room look smaller.  I do not like this room.
