Does anyone have ideas or photos of a short vinyl fence that could be used in a front yard to obscure the ditch area?  The current set up has DH mowing the slope to the ditch and it is fairly steep.  We are looking for a solution that would take the grass out of this area and are thinking vinyl fencing might be a good idea.

The fence is not used for containment and we don't want to interfere with the streetscape view.  I am not inclined to go with a stone wall as they eventually will require maintenance or at least that was my experience at our last house.

I am putting this here instead of the garden forum as there is more traffic especially in winter for those of us that don't garden in winter.

I like problem solving - a picture of the area would help - but think i have a mental snap-shot.

I have a storm drain on my property tho not deep so easy to mow down to the drain.

If I didn't mow there - it would make my lawn look un-kept.  Would your lawn look un-kept (from street to new fencing?)

I guess  'mainteance' is the big question for me.

We went with vinyl fencing around the backyard but as @deb5555  has posted used picket fencing. We went to a fence company and requested the fencing facing closest to the street to be 4' high & on the sides go from 4'to 6' with the 6' length going at our backyard 2 corners & along the back of our property. We also had the choice to have wider spacing on the shorter front fencing & the pickets closer together on the sides & back. 

We chose a khaki color over white as we felt white was too stark. For the endcaps on the posts we chose the New England style caps.

I remember we had to special order the front fencing with the wider spaced pickets & the fence could be ordered as low as 3'. But if it was to be shorter, you might have to consult with the installers or the salesperson doing the order.

@deb5555 you provided some nice solutions. @JustJazzmom  is that type of fencing going to need an occasional power washing? I'd like to put some low fencing on one side of our property but I'm afraid vinyl will discolored, much like resin patio chairs do.
