Missing CASUAL brunches / dinners with friends and extended family. Anyone feel the same? Found myself looking at cozy, casual dining areas. #1 & #4 are speaking to me today. #4 reminds me of the harvest table I inherited from my grandmother. I shopped for hours to find chairs to go with the 100 year old table then decided, I'd find 6 different chair styles. Family loved it as they each had their special chair.

1.

From BHG.com - Polished Casual Home. I like the details in the cabinetry and chandeliers. Casual pattern on a more formal chair. Good with rustic table.

I'm loving #2.  I pretty much like everything about this kitchen. I find it to be a fresh country look.  Everything fits together so well and it's not cookie cutter.

As I have said before on these forums, I am not a fan of  islands in kitchens.  I much prefer a table and chairs.  The ones shown in the pictures are all very nice, some more appealing than others.  However, gathering around the kitchen table for breakfast, lunch and dinner was always our family tradition.

I prefer table and chairs as well. The mismatched chairs remind me of The late Polly Bergen. She had elegant taste and would have a completely different place setting of fine china at each chair when she entertained with dinner parties, even if she had 16 guests. I saw it many years ago in her store and have never forgotten it. Such style!

I  like both a table and chairs and island seating. Fixing sandwiches at the island while talking to kids, having DD sit at island and talk while I fix dinner. Nothing beats the family family gathering around the table for a meal though.

I love my island for prepping but the way it is shaped and positioned in my kitchen I chose not to have any chairs at it.  It looks fine that way.  I have a "kitchen table"  - it actually sits in a space between my kitchen and family room.  We rarely gather and sit at it- it tends to be a catch all when we come into the house which I hate.  When we gather and sit it is in the dining room which isn't very formal.

Ah, relaxing, serene--  each image of dining has something to highly recommend it!   Great images, @jeanlake .   I especially like the way some of them effortlessly mix design styles --  modern, rustic, traditional, bohemian.

I like #2 with all the baskets and black/white plaids.  It speaks country to me with its coziness.  I think I would use a lighter flooring though.
