Re: Country House Sitting Room...

The floors can stay.  Still deciding on the rug.

As others have stated, it just looks outdated.  And I have a real dislike for ruffles.  I do like green, but in this room, "it's not easy being green..."

The room is very nice, but I dont care for those ruffled curtains and would have gone with a simpler style ....The rest is fine....

@stevieb ...  I LOVE it ...  I’m a green person to begin with, but I love toile pattern on the sofa, etc.  I am generally a traditional girl using shades of cream or white in my living room, but for a family room this looks warm, comfortable and inviting.  My one big gripe about decorating now is the lack of window covering and just bare windows.  I LOVE beautiful, rich, billowy curtain fabrics and miss the formality of curtains to soften the lines of the window and add to the palate of decorating a room.  This is a pretty room to me Stevie and I would be happy to have a room like it in my home ...  I always enjoy your threads on making a pretty room Stevie

@Pantsonfire2  Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy the posts. I too love green and find this room very appealing. As with almost any room we see posted here or on websites or in magazines, there are things I'd change, but overall, I find it a comfortable and pretty room. I agree too that I don't like undressed windows. That said, I'd have likely skipped the valances in these rooms, as I do think they're a bit much with the flouncy skirts on so much of the furniture... One or the other, but, for me, not both. I too love toile and especially green toile, so love the sofa fabric...

Re: Country House Sitting Room...

I like green, but this room is too much country and too much green for me. Change the curtains, and remove half the "stuff" on the floor and tables.
