Some of you will remember the country house posted a few weeks back and a few of the interiors from it... This was designated by the residents as the family room... I find it pretty and relaxing and just 'country' or 'colonial' enough to give off a warm vibe but without reading as too dated, other, perhaps, than the curtains and ruffles, both of which appear to be in favor by those living here... Green continues to be their color of choice...

You know, there isn't one thing I like about this room. Which is unusual for me not to find something to like. ![]()

I don't like anything about it either. The color is ok in small doses though.

The green walls, dark wooden floors and rough textured rug are attractive. There is nothing else in the room that appeals to me. I've never cared for the country decor and this is not cluttered!

@stevieb ... I LOVE it ... I’m a green person to begin with, but I love toile pattern on the sofa, etc. I am generally a traditional girl using shades of cream or white in my living room, but for a family room this looks warm, comfortable and inviting. My one big gripe about decorating now is the lack of window covering and just bare windows. I LOVE beautiful, rich, billowy curtain fabrics and miss the formality of curtains to soften the lines of the window and add to the palate of decorating a room. This is a pretty room to me Stevie and I would be happy to have a room like it in my home ... I always enjoy your threads on making a pretty room Stevie

I agree a bit, the hardwood floor and rug can stay, everything else, no.

It's so polished yet so cozy.
I love the upholstered furniture that you just want to sink into. And the adorable little chair that, even if you had no little ones, brings extra charm plus utility to the room.
I have a little filigreed metal chair by my fireplace. A big stuffed rabbit sometimes sits on it.

While I like green, I think a bit of contrast would look better. Maybe some different pillows and throws?
