Re: Charming Cottage Kitchen Vignette...

I like cottage and vintage and this fits the bill....  The only changes would be to remove a lot of the items on the open shelf. And for items on the shelf, I would choose a couple of pieces of color to tie in the color of the fruit on the counter and also the fabric.

I like the overall brightness of it but I'm not really a fan of the cabinets or storage.  I don't like the fabric under the sink...however I do like the shade at the window.

It's charming for a cottage vacation rental but not practical for a kitchen for your home where it's used daily.  Even as a rental, I'd change out the lower cabinet doors and get rid of that flooring and curtain below the sink for starters.

I don't like open shelving and I abolutely hate the cloth "door" below the sink.  How long before it gets wet and dirty?  Plus, it just looks old fashioned and "poor."

One huge bugaboo for me is whenever I see a fabric "curtain" type covering under a sink or washstand. I just hate that look. Reminds me of photos of povery stricken peoples' home in the 30s and  40s.

French and English cottages used fabric to cover their kitchen shelving long before the Depression.  I think it is charming but not for me.

Charming, but I'd change the dishwasher and put in some handmade cabinets.  Essentially, every dish would need to be washed before use.

@ECBG

Handmade cabinets?  You really are ambitious.  Do you mean bespoke cabinets?  LOL.

I think several companies have eliminated the choice of white. I ran into this recently.

and I thought stainless was going out and white/black were returning.
