I live in Texas. Ceiling fans are a must, even if you have an outdoor sitting area such as a covered porch or patio.
Fans in every room except bathrooms and laundry room. We have an enclosed sunroom, too. The fan in the kithcen is above the dining area, not the prep area.
Some of our fans have light kits, some don't. We rarely use the lights, but the fans are always on during the summer! They are kept clean. I replaced all the fans a few years ago with quieter, smaller (appropriatey sized for the room), more attractive models. Very happy with them, and I must have air moving at all times during the summer.

I did not read all posts, but I have never heard anyone say they did not like their ceiling fans! Buy the best one you can afford so it will run smoothly and quietly.
If I have hang to dry or dry flat laundry, I put in a bedroom with the fan and run the fan to help dry it faster.

I also find that fans with lights create a flicker shadow that gives me a headache.
My 2 rules
Do not turn on the fans unless clean
Ceiling fan lights must be off if the fan is on
Whatever you do, NEVER flip the reverse switch until you're 100% sure the blades are perfectly clean!

@Abrowneyegirl .... I have that issue with lights and fans, but only if the lights are above the blades (which I've only seen with high-hats in the ceiling above the blades). The rotation of the blades results in a strobing effect, which makes me nauseous. Fortunately, I have no problem with lights below the blades.
I also have bad allergies. I get your problems and your rules!

@KCFoxy Beautiful Babies! What breed(s) is the one in the front left? He/She looks like he/she is wearing a hat!

First of all - they sell many fans without lights. Second - The lights are lower than the fan in almost all cases unless it is a light that shines up on the ceiling.Either way , the fan blades spinning has no effect on the light.
As for cleaning the fan - they sell a brush that is round and open in the middle - you put the blade thru the opening and it cleans the blades.A couple times a year my housekeeper gets up on a ladder and actually washes the blades with soap & water but they aren't very dirty because when she cleans every 2 weeks she dusts them with the brush.

We have them all over the house.....we wouldn't be without them. They keep the air moving and the A/C runs less.

Yes, we have them and love them. We have them in our bedrooms and in our kitchen......

Yes I have them in each bedroom (4) and in my family room. Yes they do help cool the house as I live in WA state where AC wasn't built into our house 32 years ago. I also use fans on the floor and in the windows too. My house isn't as well insulated as new ones are these days. The ceiling fans all have lights but they aren't very quiet as the new ones prob are. And don't have remotes with them either--that would be really handy.

@cbrite wrote:My interior gets so hot. I was thinking about putting in a ceiling fan. I heard they can 'pull up' the warm/hot air to cool things...
Thought I'd ask before doing it. Do they work ? TIA
@cbrite When I remodeled my kitchen about three years ago, I had a fan with light installed over the island which is across from the range top, the best idea I ever had. It pretty much cools the kitchen or at least gives a nice breeze, a lifesaver on hot days. There is a panel on the wall to adjust from high to low, light on or off, can use the light alone or not, a wonderful setup.
I have a ceiling fan on the covered deck also, one in a bedroom, a standing fan in the master, thinking about a ceiling, and a ceiling fan in the family room, all this because we have no air conditioning. I also have some portable fans, lol, never too much breeze for me.
