@Oznell It could be a lot of fun for you to tackle.  Do you have one room that is on the smaller size that you could try? What color are your floors?  You can white wash them for a lighter look. First video, go past the staining of the floor until you get to the whitewash coat (this is if you have a darker floor):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyx9rzUQUW4

This one is just painting:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6MEGtGBP7c

This is a white wash if you have a light base floor:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BotwiT8_Ys

The worst part is making the decision!  Oznell, you have a great eye!  I think you would do a beautiful job and be very pleased with it's outcome!  All the possibilities of a color will make you enjoy it even more!  A deep English Coach Green?  A pale sky blue?  A pale butter yellow?  A deep red or burgundy or crimson or even eggplant?  Oh my, a hunting we will go.  Dream first!  There is a website called Samplize dot com.  They make 12 x12 samples that you can place on the floor in whatever color you wish, so you can get an idea of the color you want and how it will look!  Go have fun, even if you chose not to paint the floors!

Oh, fab, @Somertime -- these resources will be so much fun, as you say, whether I ultimately take the plunge or not!

The hall floor up there is narrow plank, dark stained wood.  The one bedroom where we ripped up carpet, is dark also but alas, it has old, horrible glue (for previous, long past carpeting?) that is going to have to be dealt with.

A project, for sure.  Thanks so much for lending your expertise and giving me ideas-- a potentially dangerous prospect!

I love the kitchen.

The other rooms, not so much.  I don't like the bright/primary color accents.  Perhaps I would like them better with softer colors.  Too much popping for me.  I do love that kitchen, though.

None of this appeals to me.

@Oznell  I will comment on the first picture. Too much green appliances.  It would look better if only one appliance was green -- say the stove and the rest in white.  I would not do a green hood over the stove either.
