Susan Louise, I especially liked the sort of amber color and thought it would look great for harvest, but it's so pale that it doesn't show up much except right in the middle of the tree.  I wouldn't like neon colors either, but I would like the tree to appear illuminated from top to bottom.  As I mentioned, I'll play around with it a bit before making a final decision.  Thanks for posting the pictures.

Marsha, I know these aren't cheap trees, but how about if I suggest you keeping the one you have for now with the box & receipt, and keep an eye out for any 'as is'. Order one of them, and see if it's any better, then return the one you like the least  You might get lucky with a brighter one more to your liking Smiley Happy

Another concern I would have is what will happen to the top and bottom areas once the batteries start to weaken.  I don't have this tree or anything like it.  Just FWIW.

As soon as I would notice a change on brightness, I'd just recharge the batteries. I may not be understanding why there would be a concern?

The concern is that if the top and bottom (of Marsha's) already show weak glow with fresh batteries, they may look even worse and more dim with weakening batteries.  Many of us don't use rechargeables and, only speaking for myself, I usually get all the life I can possibly get out of my regular batteries.

But I also have those areas too...you'll need to scroll up to the post with the pic of the tree with the pink light and read what I wrote in that post and others following it Smiley Happy

I would just check it out and see what happens.  You have until January to return it.

Good point and that is the best advice.  Test it thoroughly, and then anyone on the fence will know whether or not this item is a keeper for them.

SL, I read the earlier posts and saw the pics.

SHOPR, Forgive me, but I wish I didn't feel frustrated...sigh. I guess nobody sees my point...at least it feels that way.

If Marsha or anyone doesn't like their tree for whatever reason, that is fine. Everyone's view on whether they like an item or not is as different as the individual.

With that said, I was trying to reasure Marsha that I have dark areas on the top and bottom of our trees too.

When folks go to the link to the item for the tree, they will see the tree with the clicker...and both the top and the bottom of the tree have dark areas with no color.

*****If anyone watches the video, they will see Valerie use the clicker on the 'jump' feature and see how some colors are brighter than others...AND if you notice, the majority of colors are missing in the top and bottom areas of the tree!

When they go over to the trees on the red square pedestals, the white is bright and shows almost all the way up and down the tree...same with our trees.

In the video, when they go over to the trees when they are in 'yellow' mode when they are in the chocolate pedestals, the tops and the bottoms are not fully saturated with color...same with when they go over to the gingerbread house. Both the red and green colors are not as bright as when valerie changes it to white.

Lastly, when the tree is lit in a brightly lit room and with sun shining in the room, most of the colors will show up lightly. The darker the room, the more the colors show up. The dark colors in a semi lit room in the evening show up from top to bottom in our trees...like the tree pic I posted with the green light.

Whew...lol...time for coffee...hth.

I wish Marsha or anyone else was here to see our trees. I can't speak for Marsha, but I can only guess she was hoping for all the colors to have the same brightness throughout the tree like when the white and dark colors are used.

Taking pics of our trees just won't do any good. They would be just like those already posted on the Q. The video does a much better job Smiley Happy

Marsha, Please don't keep the tree if you really don't like it, or you feel it's not a good one. Sometimes it's just hard to type and explain things perfectly. All I know is...I try.

SL, You are a much braver person than I am, for typing such a detailed analysis before coffee.  No way I could!

Your point is well taken.  My point was not against yours, but just a pondering I had on what they might look like on weaker batteries, and whether or not anyone not 100% thrilled with the glow area with certain colors may be even less thrilled with the effect brought on by weaker batteries.  Nobody knows yet since they are a brand new item.  I said: Another concern I would have is what will happen to the top and bottom areas once the batteries start to weaken.

I've missed half a night's sleep and have to be on the road today.  I just stopped in here after watching a few videos and checking my order statuses, disappointed that I won't be getting any of my CIJ purchases today.

Looking forward to reading the continuing reviews here as the items arrive.  I got my 7/1 TSV cloche in record time, but these latest items are in no hurry to get here it seems.

I have the matching hurricane & I have had it for awhile now.  The battery life is excellent & when they are maxed out, the hurricane does not light.  There is no fading, flickering, etc when the batteries are spent.  I hope this is true with this tree.  I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase!

Two out of three sets of VPH's Silver Swirl Finials arrived today.  I only wanted 2 sets, but  my experience with Valerie's products not working 50% of the time made me think it was a good idea to order a third set.  Well, I was right. The largest finial in one of the sets has a defective timer feature.  When i switch it to timer, it stays on for a few seconds, then immediately goes off.  I'm currently testing it on the "on" feature to see if it functions as timer, but I'm not holding my breath.  The third set will arrive tomorrow, so if the largest one works in that set, I'll at least have 2 working sets, that is, if the rest of the timers on these two sets work.  The question is, do I want to keep ANY of them?

I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in these.  First of all, the lights in these are very warm, almost yellow, which makes the silver look champagne when lit.  It's not a deal killer for me, but there has to be a way to do a silver, mercury glass product that is lit with lights that help maintain the integrity of the silver color when lit.  Additionally, the brightness of the lights seems uneven among the three finials.  The smallest is the brightest, and the largest is the least vibrant.  These finials look pretty up close, but far away they look like amorphous blobs; the lights pop, but you can't really discern the shape of the finials.  Finally, the swirl is kind of weird.  They would look pretty in Christmas displays, but I was hoping to use these year round.  I can't really see that being an option with these.  They don't suit my style for year round display.  So, I have a couple of days to make a decision about these (if my decision isn't made for me by defective timers).  I'm totally on the fence at this point.  To be continued...

Update (already) - I just went into my kitchen to move the large, unworking finial from my counter to my sideboard, and when I lifted up the finial, the guts of it just slid right out.  It wasn't glued properly into the glass finial.  All the wiring looks normal, at least as much as I can tell, and now when I switch it to timer function, the lights are randomly coming on and off.  Interesting.

Hi Peter, Sorry to hear your finials weren't everything you had hoped they would be. Based upon my experience buying decor, I ask myself about a zillion times...do I LOVE, this that or the other. If the answer is no or just kinda, away they go. It will also keep your decor supply in check...so to speak.

I have been wanting to tell you that if VPH ever gets anymore of the mosaic pearl trees, that you should consider getting one...no joke! Maybe there will be some 'as is' ones coming down the pike.

I say this because of how you decorate...with white/silver. I think if you saw the mosaic tree in the 'white' color mode, you would be over the moon with delight (that is of coarse you don't get a defective 'as is' one).

I wish you lived close by so you can see it for yourself. The light is a pure white...no cream...and no bluish tint/hue.

Just something to consider...additionally since you decorate with a modern edge too. Lastly, it looks awesome even unlit!...HTH Smiley Happy

Peter, I am so sorry that after all the excitement about these spheres and now you may need ,or want, to send them all back. Mine is somewhere between here and the east coast, may be here by Saturday.  If I'm not pleased I'll return for sure.  Hope you get at least one working set or maybe two.
