I know there's a certain appeal and romanticism associated with the thought of a fireplace in the bedroom.

In the home we lived in prior to this, we negotiated with the builder (he did not build for us) to remove the fireplace in the bedroom. It took up space along a wall that could have been used for furniture. It also was one of those see through into the bathroom where you could see the tub. No thank you. All those reasons to remove but the biggest was that we didn't like an overly warm bedroom. It was completely impractical for us. We were very glad we had it taken out.

In the home I'm in now I have 2 gas fireplaces and use the one upstairs often. It's on now to take the chill out of just this area instead of heating up the whole house.

As far as the picture, it doesn't appeal to me for what my needs are.

I love a fireplace and we do have an electric one in our bedroom. It is so cozy on a cold winter day.

I love this room but don't like the leather sofa. I would replace that with a a comfortable overstuffed loveseat and chair (to the left of the fireplace).

Beause I have a chaise at the foot of my bed where I sit to put on panty hose when I wear them, to put on my bra (because I have to put one breast in my bra) and pants are not as easy to stand and put on as they were when I was 65.  I can sit there and watch TV rather than lying in bed watching it and I have contemplated a fireplace but would have to give up my desk for that area, so I just didn't ever get one but that would be nice.  I like making up my bed and lying on the chaise and reading also.  Everybody needs a chaise at the foot of their bed.
