If you just put in wthr.com and scroll down or even just put in search bar bath and body works candles exploding,
this happened a few days ago.
I did not see the 2017 one you all are mentioning.

I stopped shopping at this store over 15 years ago.

@on the bay Okay I looked that up and saw the story. Wow that's awful! Frustrating too since I purchased a few B&B candles over the holidays when they were having their 50% off sale....I wonder what made the candle explode? I never heard of that before.
I never leave the room with it burning....but still for it to explode is very scary!

The thing with the 3-wick candles is that the wicks are already close to the glass.
So if you’re not diligent about preventing deep wax pools and overlong wicks, the flame can easily get too close to the glass and shatter it.
The deep wax pool allows the wick to wander unsupported from its original position.
Long wicks can produce big flames, especially dangerous in a draft.
This shouldn’t normally happen after half an hour but if you didn’t look after the wicks on the last burn, they may already be too close to the glass before you even light the candle this time. Sometimes this is hidden by the way the wax has previously cooled.
I burn a lot of candles and I’ve always been wary of 3-wicks. They burn so fast and the wax melts so quickly, you’ve really got to watch them.

I didn't know anything about trimming the wick. How much should be trimmed off? Is this for all candles or only 3 wick ones?

I trim all wicks before I use them. I have a trimmer to do this with. Scissors can work.

I remember a couple of years ago, when burning a 3 wick from Bath and Body Works, the glass felt so hot, I extinguished my candle.....I think you have to be especially careful with 3 wicks as they burn faster...
.I never burn a candle for more than a couple of hours anyways, and I always check my wicks, because I don't want all of that soot that comes with not trimming your wicks....
That is scary though..I still love candles and burn them all the time, but always only in the room that I am in, and always trim my wicks...
