I actually don't care for either one. The dark remodel doesn't bother me (although I wouldn't, personally, do it) but it's all the fixtures and accessories that I don't care for.

In the before picture, they have a glass shower door, so it probably is a regular curtain/valance because it doesn't need to keep out water and they probably wanted to cover the glass up.
@lolakimono They probably would have been better off just getting a nice inexpensive shower curtain. What they have is too heavy and looks like heavy drapes.....I do like the counter tops....I also don't mind the dark cabinets, but then going that dark everything needs to be much lighter!

I prefer a lighter color bathroom with bright lights.
However the "after" picture is a nice change but not for me.

I definitely like the before and couldn't live with the dark colors in the after bathroom.
The after photo would keep me from buying the house, unless I was interested in remodeling.

That 'after' is just awful in my opinion. The drapery type valance Is just comical.
To complete the look they should have installed shag carpeting 🙄

@lolakimono Hmmmm...makes sense but I just wouldn't want that heavy fabric in a damp bathroom. I think it would get musty.

Think they went from typical boring to drastic dark.
I can see painting the cabinets black, but the walls??
And, so not a fan of gold hardware either, anywhere in a home.

I would have spent the money on making a more fabulous shower, including the shower doors. That may have been too expensive. I like the sinks and counter top in the re-do, but they might have been ok in the before. It's hard to tell.
Like several others, I wouldn't like the dark colors at all. And while I wear yellow gold jewelry, I really don't like it in hardware. And that valance or whatever it is, good look keeping that clean.

WAY too dark for me.

I could live with the after if the wall color were different. The problem is that in a bathroom you are better off with a semi gloss paint because of the steam factor. Semi gloss black is awful in general. A semi gloss-friendly paint color would improve things 100%.
