I like all of these pieces individually but there are too many and they're far too over-sized all together on the table.  I'd have to eliminate a couple of the items and/or replace them with some smaller items.  Also, the basket sticking out from under the table would drive me nuts (did I mention that I'm OCD about certain things.....LOL!).  I'd slide it all the way in under the table as it looks like there would be room to do that.

My entryway is filled with large and small items, a mixture that works for me.  I have figurines, family and friend photos, and whatever makes me happy.  I will admit it is a bit much but since I have so much decor I try to display it  not hide it.  When I walk in my house I am greeted by an entryway filled with love and memories.

It just looks cluttered to me. I like odd numbers of items, and I like them of various sizes to provide balance.

I don't care for this. There are too many large items which overpower the space IMO. I think the table, bowl, and mirror are more than enough.

My entry is very narrow for a table. I had a slim table with a lamp and a decorative item there when we first moved in, but my husband kept knocking into it every time he went in & out the front door. I still have the large metal art sculpture on the wall though. We also have a coat closet in our entry space which I love.

The mirror and table would be enough for me; what's there is just too much.

Great discussion!  I'm one who also prefers, for myself, maybe 3 things on a console like this.  But, I'm so taken with the "curator" aspect of my design favorite, Steven Gambrel, that I enjoy the aesthetics of this more 'object-dense' vignette.

He's so eclectic, with such a grasp of diverse things of beauty, that I always give him a pass.   But he's never just one way-- sometimes he clusters objects like a maximalist would, and sometimes he's very spare.

What saves him for me is that, he works in a traditional vein, without ever being "cutesy" or predictable.  It's the ditsy designers, who populate their work with every last design cliche of the moment, who turn me off.

@Ronettes ,  thank you for giving us a glimpse of the wonderful cast iron hall tree-- it must bring so much character to your entry, love!

In my entry I have a bench against one wall and a small table that I decorate for the season with a big mirror over it. It's against another wall that you see when you open the front door. There is a coat closet off to one side.

All of this is a no for me.  Oversized stuff crammed on the table. The huge mirror.

But what gets to me the most is that the basket leans. That would drive me nuts.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
