The recent post from @SilleeMee about Zep got me wondering about cleaning the toilet tank.

For some odd reason, I've watched a couple of YouTube videos about doing so and then checked my tanks.

Awful.

The only suggestions I've seen are Citric Acid and Peroxide.

Haven't tried either one, but it made me wonder if anyone has found a way to clean out their toilet tank.

I know that it is invisible, but it bugs me it's so grungy looking.

Any suggestions welcome!

Never occcurred to me to clean the toilet tank.  I only look in it if I'm having a problem flushing!!  I did put the product recommended by a poster, Zep, for cleaning the toilet into my Amazon cart.

@granddi

I'm not aware that is has to be cleaned, but I'm one of those people who likes to know things are clean even if I cannot see them.

My mother passed along this nuttiness to me as a child.  We were required to spend our Saturday mornings cleaning everything and anything.

Toilet tanks were not on our list Cat LOL

However, I would be happy knowing they were spotless. Cat LOL

@goldensrbest

Found it...and it's citric acid.

Well water here too, so that might account for the condition of the tank.

Thanks, I will give it a try.

Re: Cleaning the Toilet Tank

I drop a Clorox Bleach Toilet tablet in my tank to help clean my toilet, seems to keep the tank clean too, I use the white tablet.

Re: Cleaning the Toilet Tank

I never heard of anyone cleaning the tank.    IMO its a sales tactic to sell more unecessary products, and for people with OCD to have something else to clean.

I do however use Clorox bleach tabs that go into the tank and they keep the tank looking clean.

Im not into finding things to clean!
