I have a Victorian black cast iron Hall Tree, just like this one, in our foyer:

@Oznell My essentials for my entry are a good floor mat,  hidden shoe storage so I can change from street shoes to indoor-only shoes, some sort of light, a flat surface to place packages, keys, etc. on until I can deal with them and a drawer that holds my box cutter, packing tape, scissors, measuring tape, etc.

I don't have to worry about coat storage because it doesn't get cold where I live,  I tend to leave my umbrella in the garage, but I have an umbrella stand that I can place in the entry if we are going through a long stormy patch.

Too much stuff for my taste.  And the rope enclosed in the glass jar looks like a coiled snake to me.

That entry is beautiful.

I'd leave just the lamp, white vase/bowl, and framed painting -- and remove the rest.  All five pieces look too cluttered.

I like the idea of a big mirror there, but I don't like that particular mirror.

All in all, a great entryway.

If I had an entry hall, it wouldn't have so many pieces on display.  I'd remove that lamp from that busy table -  I like it, but not where it is now.

I would keep the mirror and the lamp and maybe have some nice Candlesticks, and a small dish for keys and mail...

I like it as is but would remove the small painting.

I like the basket under the table (I have 2 tall round storage baskets under a hall table) but might replace it with one that is more structured. This one looks misshapen to me.

I like it but would have to remove a few items from  the table. It's to cluttered for my liking.

I love this just as it is.

To answer the question, I like having a table and a couple of chairs in the foyer.  My foyer goes from the front to the back of the house so it's rather sizable.  I have a round table in the center under the chandelier, two upholstered chairs, several boxwood topiaries, a fountain, a large floor urn, and a grandfather clock in my foyer.  It's kind of a tricky space to place furniture, but what I have done seems to work.

For me, mirror is too big, table to short and very cluttered.  It just overwhelms the space.
