The Floor tiles. My Dad put down our kitchen floor in the fifties and he ( clever fellow that he was) put a contrast colour trail all around the room with outlines mimicing rugs in front of the stove and sink areas. GENERATIONS of kids in this family have driven our toy cars around that "roadway"!

@Desertdi wrote:50"s ??? My grandma had better stuff than that...
@Desertdi Mine did, too. It stands to reason my mom and dad's parents were more established. In my life, this would have been at a time when my parents were just starting out. I remember similar items in our kitchen from about 5yrs. old. That would have been 1955. Mom and dad had just built a small ranch house with a basement. I'm sure many of the things they had may have been hand me downs from their parents. It sure brings back some sweet memories!

I have that vintage tablecloth!

That big green thing next to the stove is a roaster. I have seen them in pictures and antique stores but no one in my family had one. My Grandma's had the smaller ones that sat on the counter tops, but not a free standing one like this picture shows.

I remember the stove, refrigerator and the aqua bowl on the table.

The canister set is exactly what was in our kitchen growing up. My 95 year old mother still uses the coffee and tea canisters.

My grandmother had that roaster in white, I never saw her use it.
We had a wringer washer in the kitchen next to the sink.
We lived in apartments mostly, those cabinets are nicer than we had.
Mostly we had metal cabinets.
My parents bought their first house when I was in high school, first thing my mother did was remodel the kitchen!
