When my dad was sick, I kept a tree in his room decorated each month or so! It brightened his room and was so cheerful. His doctor did house calls and she had me take pictures of each tree and make an album for her to share with her other caregivers and patients. I would stock up on lights at Christmas when they were plentiful! Snowman theme in blue and white for January, Valentine's reds and pinks, March -St Patrick's April -Easter, May - a birthday tree decorated with noise makers, hats etc, June- small silk flowers, butterflies, etc. July Red white and blue, flags , etc. August -Sunflowers, Sept- fall garlands, scarecrows, etc Oct. -Halloween Nov- fall flowers, turkey, berry garlands and of course traditional Christmas. It was a lot of fun finding things to decorate with. Everyone that visited enjoyed the trees. I also had a wreath on his door for each season to match the trees. My dad was sick for 10 years and had around the clock care. His caregivers enjoyed the trees and couldn't wait to see what would be next.
This post made me smile. I love the way you put so much effort and thought in to each month.
I'm not sure you intended it, but not only did your dad get pleasure out of the tree itself, but the time you spent creating it, was time he had you with him, and your presence lasted long after you were gone for the day.
It also brightened the day of his caregivers, which I'm sure reflected in the way in which they served and interacted with him, and others that they came into contact with each day.
You probably didn't know when you began the process, just how many people would receive joy and pass it on, from something you were doing to brighten your dad's day.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful story.

I never considered a tree for Valentine's. The trees described in the thread sound nice.

I don't but I always liked the idea. When I was a little girl, My great aunt had a table top tree in her sunroom and she decorated it for all the holdays. Whem we were kids, we all loved Aunt Bea's holiday tree. Perhaps, when we have grandchildren, I'll do a variation of it.

I have used a similar tree for all of the holidays other than Christmas with the appropriate ornaments. This tree is from Oriental Trading. It's small enough to sit on any surface. Love it.

We have a 4ft tree on our back porch and it gets decorated every month of the year with different decorations. It now has red heart lights on it with white tiny blinker lights and heart garland. St. Patrick's day it will be green lighted shamrocks green shamrock garland. Easter will have all colored egg lights and summer it is a toss up of different lighted ice cream cones, tong lights, small lighted drink glasses. 4th of July flag lights, star lights, halloween that is all orange with pumpkin lights, ghost lights etc. Our tree is the topic of conversation all year long. I also bought the tree that the Q had on that you can set the lights with different colors all year round. that one is going in the window with lighted big hearts and it lights will be red for Valentines Day. Also going to let the red bliss light shine up through the tree just have to figure out how to set it up on the floor and not tip over. Doing the front porch tomorrow with lighted hearts .

She has a full sized white Christmas tree in one of her front windows with pink lights and red ornaments.
She decorates her home and front yard for every holiday.
Think I'll begin decorating with chocolates! Nothing to take down or put away!
I put away plenty of chocolate!
