Anyone else have a tree up for St. Valentine's Day?

I bought a very tall, but thin Christmas tree from a local boutique that I love so much I couldn't take it down after the holidays.

So I kept all the red glass ornaments on it and ordered a TON of heart shaped ones and some hot pink ones.

The tree is an off white and came pre-lit with white lights.  It's very unique to begin with.  (Your typical green trees just don't go with my decor.)

It's beautiful and I can't wait till all my grandchildren see it this weekend.  Two of my granddaughters have helped me decorate it.

I have a *tarnished* silver tree (only about 2 feet high) in a bay window on my porch (where we eat) that is decorated with glass ornaments shaped in *desserts*.  Cupcakes, slices of cake, candy shapes, sugared fruit slivers---it makes you hungry looking at it!

Other than putting out red and pink fresh flowers and pink pillar candles, that's it for St. Valentine's decorations.

Anyone else keep a tree up?

Someone in my neighborhood has really great eclectic style.

She has a full sized white Christmas tree in one of her front windows with pink lights and red ornaments.

She decorates her home and front yard for every holiday.

Think I'll begin decorating with chocolates!  Nothing to take down or put away!

You could keep it up all year.  I see St. Patricks day, patriotic holidays, spring flowers, summer sand buckets, etc.

Oh I bought big huge shiny red Reese's hearts for the kids, but they're too heavy for the branches!  Uh oh...

Re: Anyone else have a tree up for St. Valentine's Day?

When my dad was sick, I kept a tree in his room decorated each month or so! It brightened his room and was so cheerful. His doctor did house calls and she had me take pictures of each tree and make an album for her to share with her other caregivers and patients. I would stock up on lights at Christmas when they were plentiful! Snowman theme in blue and white for January, Valentine's reds and pinks, March -St Patrick's April -Easter, May - a birthday tree decorated with noise makers, hats etc, June- small silk flowers, butterflies, etc. July Red white and blue, flags , etc. August -Sunflowers, Sept- fall garlands, scarecrows, etc Oct. -Halloween Nov- fall flowers, turkey, berry garlands and of course traditional Christmas. It was a lot of fun finding things to decorate with. Everyone that visited enjoyed the trees. I also had a wreath on his door for each season to match the trees. My dad was sick for 10 years and had around the clock care. His caregivers enjoyed the trees and couldn't wait to see what would be next.

I've already bought 21 St. Patrick's day glass ornaments from ebay.  They're mostly *Santa* leprachauns, Irish Celtic dancers and shamrocks.  I'll add my own green tree balls, too.

I'll be broke by Easter!

OMGosh, I have chills!  What a nice thing to do for your dear Dad.  I'm so sorry he was sick for so long.  You have a great idea, though, to brighten the days for patients and caregivers.

Spoiler

99 cents store, dollar tree.  Michaels has cheap garland you can cut stuff off.  It's a fabulous memory for your grandkids, and you don't have to decorate all around if it's against a wall.

If the kids like to make paper chains, you could cut paper in appropriate colors so they could make chains for the tree. I did that with my grandkids this year, and they loved it.

Aren't grandkids fun? I put up my Dickens village this year just for the grandkids. They reorganized all the people, but they didn't break anything.

Happygirl, I was thinking the same thing, dollar store & glue sticks plus glitter, those Grandaughters will love decorating it. Even I am getting excited reading all these posts & how clever some of you are. It's not the tree , you are building memories for your Grandchildren which to me means way more. Save all the handcraft decorations & each year they make more and someday they can go threw the old ones & enjoy all their hard work. Every Grandma should have a year round tree!!!!
