Air Purifier Advice Please

I would greatly appreciate any advice on purchasing an air purifier, brand, type, etc. I'll be taking care of my first grandchild, will be three months old when she comes to my home. We have a raised ranch and the top floor is fine (I think). The bottom floor has carpeting that is questionable and DH has an African Grey parrot whech throws off talc like no tomorrow. My sweetie girl will be upstairs most of the time, but downstairs too. DD and I thought an air purifier might be a good idea considering the situation. Thank you so very much for any advice on what to buy.
