Boy, I used to collect plates too, but that is over the top!  In taking a close look, it seems that so many of the plates look similar, I wonder if it is a collection of different plates or just a display of her china set.

My parents once had friends whose china service consisted of complete place settings but all in a different pattern.  They were the same theme... floral,  but completely different.  I used to love to eat there to see which setting I'd get.  I always thought it was a really cool thing to do.  If you can't decide on a china pattern, just get one of each.

That's the first thing I thought, too. As for all those plates, they're too much. They appear to all be the same pattern so that must be one heck of a china service.
