The big nutcracker video!

Was still considering the big nutcracker/soldier, but in watching the video, I just wanted to point out a couple of things I noticed.

First, they are very wobbly. Watching Carolyn and the vendor touching them, they didn't look very heavy or sturdy for outdoor use. Wobbled every time they touched him.

Second, the gold one they were showing had several dents in him, most noticeably in his hat. If they couldn't find a 'perfect' one for the presentation, I'm worried about what I might get. Unless these are super well packed, I can't imagine getting one in good condition.

I collect Nutcrackers of all sizes and styles.

I had planned on purchasing this new one but I changed my mind.

I'm not crazy about the lights, I don't think those little lights really add anything and if I get it and I'm not loving it for any reason, what a bear to return.

@Mominohio Thanks for mentioning these things. I noticed the same issues. I had planned on getting one for a very dear friend who collects nutcrackers and after I saw the dents, I thought twice about it. It would be a bear to return if it came and wasn't perfect and I certainly couldm't give it as a gift. I think the metal also gave it a "flat" sort of look too.

I've been waiting for just the right big guy, and the gold one, in theory is it. They also have big, oversized ornaments to match, and the entire grouping would be hundreds of dollars, so it really has to be good quality, especially to be used outside. I just kind of doubt the quality of this, or the ability to get it to me without dents and scuffs.

Kind of bummed, cause I love the look of all three pieces together. Very large, very elegant.

Sigh!

I had not seen the video, I went to look at it and the dent is very obvious. It looks like the entire piece is thin metal. Maybe some type of polymer would have been better. I'm sort of a purist, I would prefer wooden. In a picture, the arrangement you mention would be stunning but IRL it may be a pain. Where I live, I would have to chase the stuff down the street or at the very least, re-arrange it every morning. If it doesn't get stolen! Every season, someone's Star Shower Light gets stolen in my neighborhood.

Hate to be snarky but it was hard to not notice CGs cottage cheese thighs.

Another subject, I searched for "nativity" and was very disappointed. Only 7 items came up and none of them are anything I would have. All look so cartoon-ish.

I'm saving money by the moment!

So do they think we wouldn't notice this nutcracker was made poorly? I saw him move also and the dent! Who picks the sample on air items without making sure they are perfect? Makes me think what will people get when they get this in the mail. Nightmare to return it also if damaged.
