I never have or thought about it either.  I do to paper person.

I guess I look at most people are getting paid a good wage to do their job and no tip required.  

I focus more on Giving Tree at church and animal shelters and food pantries.  I can't afford to do everything I would like to either.  So many need help.  

I think it is nice for those who do and everyone wants to be appreciated for sure.

I'm no Scrooge but just can't do it all.

Whoa, maybe it's just me, but that seems pretty assuming to me, like they expect it.

That would turn me off immediately and I wouldn't give them anything for their rudeness.

I'd give my UPS and FedEx driver a gift, too, but with so many temporaries used, I never know when my full time drivers will be delivering.

I thought of that, but don't want to get them in trouble if anyone found out.  Nosy neighbors. They also might refuse the gifts.

There are several old threads out on this topic.  I only thought of it because of the $20 amount and reading it previously.

I am very old fashion and spent lots of time with grandparents who were always tipping!

I buy newspaper delivery people a WAWA gift card.  I never see most of them, so I mail it to them.  We always get cards by Thanksgiving from them with their name and address.

I tip the lawn people on the 4th of July, Labor Day and End of season clean up. Weekly they get a cold bottle of water.  They work for a company.  I have previously tipped trash people when they were local and got to know them.

During the lockdown I tipped all delivery drivers each once.  I had heavy stuff delivered like pet food.

I remember growing up in a small town, once again, visiting my grandparents, my grandfather took us to McDnalds for lunch and brought back the tree trimming man lunch and one day walking home from the beach saw the trash truck "parked" at our house.  I thought maybe it broke down.  My grandfather and the man who owned the trash company were up the porch drnking burbon!

Now as an old lady I am so appreciative of people helping I tip.  I know it is their job but most of them go the extra step.

well then no wonder our old mail lady never took off the month of December.

I know for a fact most tipped her $50-100.  So with 850 homes at that average I'd definitely be a "happy mail lady".  Our Community gave her $500 check and gave her a cake when she retired she was mail lady here 19 years.

Back when my mail carrier was always the same, I would leave a card and gift card each year.  Now, I have different carriers day-to-day.  I watched the one today throw my packages from the curb into my courtyard.  Thank goodness the packages contained nothing fragile.  Yesterday, the same carrier left a box in front of my garage door which isn't even visible from my mailbox or my front door.  I won't be leaving her any gifts.

I would love to leave my regular UPS carrier a gift.  He's a sweetheart and always leaves my packages right at my door and behind a flower pot so they aren't visible from the street.  Unfortunately, during this time of year, I never know until after the fact that he was the carrier.  Maybe, I'll leave him a gift in January to say thank you.

I do not give a gift to my carrier.  I could not identify them if my life depended on it.  My carrier drives by our mailbox in a truck and I never even see them.  They rarely ever have to deliver a package to us that will not fit in our large box.

     I had the same mail man for over five years.  He was great!  Knew I had health issues and would often bring my mail/

packages to the door.  Always gave him something for the holidays - candy, nuts etc. 

      But he must have retired or sick or change in cilty delivery because I have a new seemingly grouchy old lady!!  I once called her to my door to ask a question.  She told me to 'hurry up' because she was running late!!  No holiday goodie for her!!

MaIl carriers are Federal employees.  They can lose their job for accepting cash and gift cards. Please do not put your carrier in a bad position at Christmas time by tipping them.
