I'm so excited about having my family together for Thanksgiving this year.  It's been a tradition that my 2 children and their family come to my home for the holiday dinner get together but Covid stopped our get together then my daughter was sick last year and hospitalized so it was a sad time. This year we are getting back together !

Woman Very Happy

My son brought over a 23Lb Turkey after church yesterday, I'm going to be cooking for the next couple of days ! I'm very happy !!  Turkey, dressing, Ham, mac and cheese, corn casserole, green beans, sweet potatos, dinner rolls and for dessert: Paula Deens Not Yo Mommas banana pudding ( I'm making 3 of them, one for Thanksgiving dinner and 1 for each of my children to take home with them)   Anyone else got big cooking plans ?  I know I will need to sleep for 2 days afterwards but it's worth the cooking to enjoy family time once again ! Happy Thanksgiving to you all ! Woman LOL

 No big plans for me. Just the two of us, I did make my Parker House dinner rolls. I'll bake a pound cake Wednesday.

But the less cooking I have to do the better.

@Goodie2shoes  Sounds like quite a feast! It's great you will be able to enjoy the family all together again! I'm having my children and most of their crews, as well as my brothers and their spouses. My kids are coming tomorrow and staying until Saturday, so I have extra meals to prepare besides T-Day. Refrigerator space is going for a premium! Hahaha!

We'll be having Corky's Smoked Ham/sides that I pre-ordered.  I'm also making my giblet gravy (chicken livers) & green beans....my son is bringing rolls & my brother is bringing his mashed potatoes.  I'll be serving "My Grandma's Apple Cider Coffee Cake" along with a pie that I'll be making on Wednesday.

@Goodie2shoes  Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving planned, but I'm afraid 2 days sleep won't be enough! haha   Enjoy, nothing quite like family gatherings.  Mine will be smaller than yours but still family and good times.

@Goodie2shoes

Is your 23lb turkey fresh? My frozen 14lb was put in the refrigerator from the freezer on Saturday.

It still seems hard as a rock lol.

It's only 4 of us, but I make it all because we love this holiday! I made 2 kinds of stuffing yesterday- the sausage,mushroom herb is the bomb!
cooking a 15 lb turkey, mashed taters, sweet potato casserole w/ the marshmallows, cranberry maple relish, gravy, apple galette- Yikes, I always try to schedule it out in advance, but I'm always in the kitchen all day...

@Goodie2shoes , wow, 23 pounds is huge- I hope you have help, girl- that's a lot of work! But have a marvelous holiday with your fam!

@Goodie2shoes   Enjoy your feast with family! Smiley Happy

DH pulled one of our 7-8 lb prime rib roasts out of the freezer on Friday and put it in the fridge. He'll start smoking it Wednesday evening...
