Re: I caved with Harry.......

I have so missed these wonderful candles.   I won't even buy the candles at BBW 's after Harry left.   I tried them for all four seasons and each time was sadly disappointed.  They are just too inferior to Harry's .

I would so love to "stock up, " however  this shipping is just insane.   One day shipping offer was appreciated but only one day for the CIJ event?  Pathetic!  I would rather the vendor sell much more as we would be able to order so much more if shipping were at least reduced when purchasing multiples.  You cannot even offer free shipping -when using the Qcard?  $5.50 per set of candles is just insane- when purchasing multiples.

Re: I caved with Harry.......

@Marsha2003  Thank you for that info; maybe so!!

I was talking to my SIL earlier (who is a HUGE Slatkin fan and owns MANY of his products and is thrilled he's back) and she made an interesting observation:

Every product is on advanced order. Yes, it's hot out but other vendors are sending candles without issue. Perhaps, just perhaps, it's a convenient front when, in reality, he and QVC wanted to see just how well the reception would be to his return. They can gage the sales and decide how to proceed. It's a win-win all around if you think about it.

Re: I caved with Harry.......

Are there covers for the 3 wick candles for when they are lit? I don't want to have to buy a house or any large ceramic piece. I got ride of the ceramic village I had with a gingerbread house and don't want any of those again...

Anyone know? I didn't see anything online...

@SahmIam, I'm happy these candles won't be sent out till later. I've told this story before but it's worth repeating. Years ago I ordered a nice set of candles from Harry. I was out of town on my annual trip with my girlfriends (August) when the box arrived and my hubby opened it not knowing what was in it. The candles were melted and went all over the carpet before he knew what had happened. I'm looking at the ruined carpet as I type this. Grrrrr. And even with these current candles shipping out in Sept., I still caution those who live in the South to be very careful. It can still be blazing hot where I live.

Also, @SahmIam, thanks for the info on the melts. I'm so tempted. I don't think I've ever tried his melts before. I do love the cute shapes! Just not the price. Thanks.

@SahmIam I thought about how an advance order allows for better inventory control, but in fact, the ship date is only six weeks away.  I don't think that's long enough to produce product and ship it from China.  It could have something to do with the timing of the expiration of Harry's non-compete agreement with BBW.

Re: I caved with Harry.......

@pupwhipped You're so welcome! His melts/tarts are far superior to those on currently on the market. I worked for Yankee Candle as Christmas help (best part time job around, lol) and WOW, did I learn a LOT about candles, how they're made and the marketing involved.

I agree with you about the ship date being in September may not be the best; last year, it was in the high 80's WELL into November so......I'm hoping they arrive ok. I just had candles sent to my from CA...no issue as they were sent 2 day. Since QVC does that stupid SurePost ******, I'm REALLY worried about how they'll arrive : (

Re: I caved with Harry.......

@Marsha2003  I don't know....food products (which involve far more safety standards) are produced in a much shorter time frame.

If he has a basic number ready to go, it shouldn't be too difficult to add to it if they sell mare than expected. If they sell less, they can adjust easily for that. If the demand for the ceramics is high, they'll know it's a winner and keep bringing them; same with tealights and melts (which take nothing to make- just pour, set and pop out). We'll see. : )

Personally, what's holding me back is the shipping costs; outrageous as other companies are charging 1 flat fee or free for similar items.

@SahmIam, there's absolutely no way I could have worked at Yankee candle...I would have owned the whole store. HA!

I've been ordering candles from a company in PA (Thompson Candle Company)....they're excellent quality candles, btw. Anyway, I asked their CS rep about shipping during the hot months. She said unless it was like 180 degrees or more (I forget exactly what she said), they wouldn't melt at all. I had some shipped recently, & they were perfect. Their foodie scents are really amazing....pure, like Harry's.

I highly recommend this brand, too. They are HIGHLY scented, & the scents are pure &  excellent. I'm burning "Toffee Crunch" right now, & on my....it's SO delicious!!!

Re: I caved with Harry.......

I caved too! But all I bought was the Octagonal Gingerbread House. I have some VPH mercury glass trees that I combine with a little snowman figurine and one of Santa driving a station wagon with a tree on top and use on my DR table. I'm thinking the GB house might just be the perfect addtion! And if not....well, it's so pretty I'm sure to find a place for it somewhere!
